Also known as the Mission Beach Roller Coaster, this iconic woodie was designed by Fred Church & Frank Prior. It opened in 1925 & had two names changes (Roller Coaster & Earthquake) before falling into disrepair in the 1970s. It closed in 1976 & was scheduled for demolition before a group of citizens intervened & had it designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1987. After a $2 million restoration it reopened in 1990 & remains as popular as it was in its first 30 years of operation.
Belmont Park is located in San Diego, California.
