Here I am, 40 years old, realizing how much Robin Williams had an impact on my childhood. I can't stop smiling every time I see Hook. It was my favorite movie growing up.

I hope one day they add all of the deleted scenes in and we get the true version they were going for. Don’t get me wrong I love this movie but finding out how much they had to cut that we’ve never seen would be amazing

The original Peter Pan was about growing up. Hook is about remembering those younger years and remembering that you should still have fun even as an adult.

It's funny. Peter can SMELL the fake food before he can fully imagine it. It just shows he's on his way to being Pan the Man.

It's real imaginary food. It's only real for those who truly embrace the magic of Neverland. Peter smelled it, which means it's real food. But he hasn't really embraced the magic yet until later on in the scene.

My siblings and I watched this movie all the time when we were kids. Now that I’m 40 it hits even harder, especially the scene where the little boy is stretching Peter’s face before joyously saying “Oh there you are, Peter!” I was a little boy when this came out, so it makes that scene even more relatable. This movie is a gem, and the modern excuse for “Peter Pan” is a cow turd in comparison.

when he did the face stretching part, i literally broke into tears remember that moment when i was a kid in 1991 watching this in the theatre

Best scene in the movie. The central theme (Peter reengaging with his inner child, his true self, and therefore his love for life) is all here. And It surely hits harder as an adult. Underrated film, by golly!

Although Hook itself doesn't delve into it much, Neverland, as described in the original work, is a land of stories and dreams. The things that people believe influence what is found there, and the things found there influence those who come there in turn. There is a degree of reality bending correlated with the strength of belief of those living in Neverland. In all likelihood, the food was, at first, not real at all. But through collective belief, and the acceptance of that belief, it became real. Or real enough at least to physically exist in the moment.
