I just saw another video where a gaboon viper was moving as fast as a rattlesnake! They're definitely not always this slow!

I love the Gaboon Vipers. The most beautiful snakes in the world. They are the reason I keep Blood Pythons, as they have many of the same traits as the Gaboon Vipers. Mark Anderson and his stunning snakes, the way he treats them, and the accepting nature of the snakes, is making a positive impact on our Reptile Hobby. All snakes and reptiles deserve respect, kindness and conservation. Peaches is Magnificent and majestic.

Now that is one huge West African Gaboon Viper. I fell in love with these snakes back when I was in Zimbabwe. Saw one in the wild and nearly stepped on it when I was like 6 years old but my cousin noticed it and pulled me away and we admired it from a distance. Such beautiful snakes

Absolutely beautiful but I really don't think they are a "safer" venomous and easier venomous. Considering they can strike at literally any angle including behind their own head/ body, strike insanely fast, huge fangs so your only hope is a dry bite. Some cobras could be easier to work with as they are only going to strike where they are concentrating and are very visually alert but can't change directions to the side or behind them.

Beautiful snake. But I don’t understand when he said he’s not in striking range - he’s sitting on the floor, looking no more than a foot or two away from her. How could that not be within striking range? He looks so close to her when he’s on the floor handling her.

Beautiful snake! Great looking place, everything is very clean , organized. Having worked with venomous reptiles before I’d familiarize yourself with bite protocol as many hospitals I. The NW are only going to be familiar with rattlesnakes, copperheads not really exotics. Great idea to bring that book. I thought the old rumor / myth about venom yields via adults vs snakelets has been disproven? There are so many articles and even videos where they put this argument to the test and it was always rather surprising. It’s not even close in almost all types of snakes tested. The adults produced an incredible amount more venom. I think that misnomer has been perpetuated for so long people believe it. I mean the logic behind it makes sense as you would think a hatchling isn’t able to control its venom but there are far more things that impact venom yield.
