I’ve learned so much about fishing from your channel that my teen son and I will begin fishing this summer for the first time. I’ve learned there are def differences in freshwater vs saltwater fishing and since we are in the middle of the US- our experiences will be freshwater until we can get enough $$ to go sea fishing which is a goal in the next 12 months! By catch seems to be a tough balance so it sounds like you’re making the right choice in making up for the by catch caught- you focus more on spearfishing which removes by catch altogether. At 19:07 about freezing fish... In Florida back when I lived there, we'd go out and do the same, catch a bunch of mangrove snapper, and my friends father, we all called him Papi, well he showed me to freeze my fillets in a bag of water, and when we'd do that straightaway after getting home and cutting it all up, thats what we did, and boy what a difference, the fish tasted so fresh , just like when we caught it, we'd get enough frozen up then we'd share out a bunch of it to the friends we had.. which really impressed them too at how fresh it was. You may of heard about doing this IDK BRODIE MAN I TOTALLY LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!

You can actually use a fish descender device to send the fish back down. As a ex-commercial fisherman we would use these devices for rare rock cods that are going extinct. They work by bringing the fish back to their pressurized environment. Either way good on you for feeding yourself and some friends in these near apocalyptic times. 🤙

Hey Brodie, those packs of fish should be put at tbe bottom of the freezer with as much space between them as possible for circulation, not stacked together up the top . They freeze faster that way, much safer and better quality. Food prep 101 is to feeze fast and thaw slow - never thaw out of the fridge. Loving your vids - thanks man.

i have to say these guys are impressive. As far as bi catch goes. I live in Texas, Ive never done fishing like this and probably will never get the opprotunity to, however, when i fish, if its an edible fish and legal, I keep it. Catfish for example, I dont like channel cats but love flatheads. If i catch a harvest of channel cat, i will prep them and give them to families in need. Even if i catch a mess of flatheads, ill keep what i can use and give the leftover filits to who ever needs them. Same for hunting White tail deer or hogs. this day and age its important to help whoever you can. BRAVO GUYS!!!! Love the channel! you have no idea how fortunate you are!!!!

Sometimes things get crazy while out there enjoying the moment and you come home with a fish for someone to eat. So right now with this virus thing happening maybe this is the perfect time to get some more “dad bod cod” because it sounds like your bneighborhood might need a little extra help with the meat situation.
