The author of Hickory wrote my favorite book, The Silver Nutmeg. I read it so many times as a child and have since collected every book he wrote.

Loved all the books! If your family enjoys animal books, look into the Heartwood Hotel series! We’re reading the last one right now & have really enjoyed all of them. Each book is set in a different season so we read them during the corresponding season & it made it that much more fun!

@@TheHomeschoolConvert we did a whole literature based unit with it and it was a blast. The main character loves radios and, of course, there’s an ocean life component. Tech and aquatic biology are two of my son’s favorite things, so it seemed a natural fit.

I checked KZbin this evening and was so excited to see that you'd posted a book haul. I seriously love your book haul videos! I'm a sucker for books too and also love the "thrill of the hunt" when looking for books at thrift stores or sales. You're making me want to look closer at Book Outlet as I haven't bought much from them before. Thanks for the recommendations!

So many great books! I love Book Outlet. I just placed a huge order too in addition to sourcing used books for next year. I never paid attention to their recommendations but will have to check it out. We loved FIAR but kind of fell by the wayside midway through the year so also plan to pick it up again next year and be more intentional about it.
@TheHomeschoolConvert2 жыл бұрын
Definitely look at the recommendations when you’re on a page for a book you’re interested in! I’ve been able to find so many great books that way. I’m really hopeful about being able to use FIAR more intentionally next year. We’re still wrapping up the current school year, but I’m so excited about next year’s choices!

The Poppy series is my 6th graders favorite series! He brags about the sensory descriptions constantly! Tolliver's Secret is great! That Audobon book is amazing. You should check out A Nest For Celeste! Animal character, amazing drawings. It's told from a mouse point of view about Audobon. HIGHLY recommend it and it has a sequel. The Illustrator book is awesome! I need to check that out. I have two copies of that Aesop as well! Don't even ask how many Child's Garden Of Verses I have!😅 I love those by different illustrators. George Mueller's story is awesome! It is so faith building. Burgess Bird is really good. We are about a third of the way through. Augustus Ceasar we are using now. My 6th grade son loves it. Our Island Story is a favorite!! You got tons of great books! We have very similar taste!😊❤ Thanks for sharing!!

jess I have watched every video of yours from the beginning and i’m so glad you’re back! some of the books you were showing though were just flashed at the camera and we couldn’t see the cover! however, I did search on my library’s website for some of these books and have placed them on my wish list for next school year 🙂

Yes, it was more rushed than I typically like these videos to be. 😆 I realized that as I was editing, but I just didn’t have the time/bandwidth to do one of my more detailed videos. Even though some people like these big book dumps, I think I’ll feature fewer books next time so that I can spend more time like I usually do. Thanks for sticking with me from the beginning! It means so much!

I always try to read the first book of a series as a read aloud so if any of my kids really like it they can go on to read the next book themselves. It has really inspired my daughter to pick up books she may not have tried on her own. You have an awesome collection and I took a lot of notes. Is it me or does our read aloud list keep growing no matter how many we read?
@TheHomeschoolConvert2 жыл бұрын
It’s endlessly growing!! 😂 I love that idea about reading the first book in the series and letting kids decide if they want to read others independently.
