Yes!! With many cakes (especially novelty cakes), the entire process can take days so the simple syrup helps keep the moisture in the cake! 🥰

Hello Yolanda, my name is Amélie, I come from France and I started to make cake design a few months ago. I have a lot of fun doing this but I have problems with my buttercream : I use butter (of course 😉), icing sugar and mascarpone but it's not easy to manipulate. So I want to make a meringe buttercream but it scares me. Do I have to use a candy thermometer ? Is it an obligation ? The last I made was a swiming (swimming ??) pool with little pigs having fun in the clay. But, as I was telling you, the buttercream was not easy to manipulate.
