Kev, thats a great idea! You should make another super powered, bench mounted, wheel spinner with some protective glass shielding, and let subscribers submit wheels to see what can withstand the most rpm and abuse. Would be great content and almost free r&d on your way to 250mph.

Kevin, with your planes you might find the bigger ones are easier to fly as they have more power and authority in the air whereas the smaller ones are fast, twitchy and difficult to fly well, you might be best to stick to minimum 40 size planes before moving up or down in scale.

Kevin you need a bead blaster for the MT tires. It's basically an air tank with a big dump valve that goes to a fanned bell output. It pushes so much air so fast it sets the bead. There's a channel on here called Tire Doctor if you want to learn more

You can rebead the tire with an explosion. Get a match on a stick, or a welding torch sparker, a ferrocerrium rod, bbq lighter etc..., then grab some starting fluid or similar, spray a bunch into the tire and ignite it, the explosion will seat the bead, there are some good videos of tractor or 4x4 tires being reseated with this method, I have done it a few dozen times and it's quite effective. There is also an "air cannon" that used to perform the same task by blasting a large volume of air into the tire. I don't know that it would be powerful enough to seat such a large tire, but may be worth looking into. Also, put a ratchet strap around the outside of the tire, tighten it up to push the bead out closer to the rim can be helpful in getting it to seat just using your air compressor.

The tire plug kit is easy. Shove the spike tool in the hole in n out a few times to smooth out the hole... load the plug into the gap on the little forked tool should be in a U shape, coat with rubber cement. Remove the spike shove the plug in about half way n yank the tool out... the plug should stay behind. Cut of excess leaving about a 1/4in or so sticking out.
@Huitzilopochtli5268 ай бұрын
Kev- pro tip for tire repair kits - use liquid rubber cement to lube the plug when inserting it. And auger it out with the rasp real well beforehand. You could also use the fire method to set the bead on the truck tire. Might make a good video. *BOOM*

Creating an all aluminum wheel does improve rigidity over plastic, but they tend to have more weight in them. In my experience, they create a lot of vibration even with the slightest imbalances. My idea of a custom wheel that could work with the speed car, is to create a 2pc wheel setup. Aluminum spokes, plastic barrel.

Kev, anything with thrust vectoring behaves like a helicopter, so does some 3D flying you should be fine. Also bigger the plane the easier it is to fly. That SR71 though, maybe make it your 3rd or 4th model to fly.

Weight isn't really an issue with the speed sossige, full size lakes racers often load the cars up with lead ballast to try prevent wheelspin and keep the cars on the ground, so I'd reckon aluminium wheels with solid rubber tyres bonded on might be the way forward. As an aside, I have a friend at Santa Pod who is an ex-marshal who crewed at the Pod. He's also a retired engineer who specialised in making moulds. Turns out he designed the moulds for all of Schumacher's off road 1/10th scale tyres in the early '90s. He also designed moulds for plastic trim bits of Jaguars, Bentleys and Rolls Royces.

RIP big jet! 😂😂 I'm kidding, you will be fine. If you can fly a pak flyer a big jet is easy. They are very stable compared to park flyers. It's also easier to keep orientation. Just don't push beyond your skill level at first. I have been Flying RC planes and Helies for 14 years. Since I was a kid. I remember going from small-scale aircraft to big 1/4-scale aircraft and how much easier they are to fly, especially with the gyro you need to hover the jet. Most good gyros have a recovery mode switch. That will rescue you if you lose orientation. People may say gyros are cheating when they are not. Some Jets can't fly without them. Real Jets have them, are pilots cheaters? They are an enchantment or extension of yourself. They will not make a bad pilot a good pilot. Anyway. you got this Kev! You're the RC Goat!

For aerobatic planes, I see you have pretty much only flown tricky and fragile ones. Try out an RCFactory Crack Laser (my favorite of the 32 inch size profile foamies) or something like that. They are great for bashing and hold up very well and since they are so light they fly pretty slow and make it easier to stay ahead of things. They are a great learning tool if you are working on learning/perfecting 3D aerobatics. Love the content as always! I watch basically all the RC videos they are great!

To get the bead on just blow starter fluid or another flammable aerosol in and light it while you have the compressor on pumping it up. The air will heat up and pop it on and the compressor will put air in before the air cools and it comes back off. It can be scary but everyone does it. I actually did it with hairspray before.

Hey Kev. Not sure if you’ve considered 3D printed tires using a flexible TPU filament at 100% infill. I use the Overture brand. It has quite impressive strength properties that continues to amaze me. The stuff is super resistant to breakage and delamination, and when printed at 100% infill is quite rigid, less give than rubber, but enough give to be used as tire and will develop a grippy surface. Not sure if it would work but may be worth a try.
