My PB, 28" came from Calcasieu Lake many years ago on a chartreuse/gold mirror-lure. Actually saw it miss my lure the 1st time. I stopped the lure, small twitches and BAM ! Fish On !!

Thats awesome. I haven't given the mirror lure a fair shot. Thrown it a few times with zero results. Its really hard to go from a bite every cast with shrimp to every once in a while.

We got our boat earlier this year but have only been fishing Cypermort Point. If I'm coming from Lafayette area, what's the best launch to go for Big Lake? Ever since the cold fronts started rolling in its been a bit too choppy in Vermillion bay.

Im on the west side so I use Ellander bridge, spicers, or Hackberry fish camp. I think there are 2 on the east side. Heberts (not sure if its still operational) and commissary point maybe. Ill warn you tho. If the winds are 8-12 i cant get out in big lake with my bass boat and get forced to stay close to the ship channel. But you can still catch lots of fish in the ship channel if you are patient. Just look for land breaks and changes from deep water to shallow.

I noticed most people fishing on big lake don't have T-tops. Is there a low bridge that you have to go through? If so where?
