just shows how good giant robo is. one of the most overwhelmingly badass HOLY **** villains of the show is actually only on screen for about 5 seconds or so and we are all still searching for him on youtube and pledging allegiance to him

Damn it, I still want to see "The Siege of Babel" happen. Giant Robo has so many interesting story possibilities and I would have loved to see just exactly who or WHAT Big Fire really is.

I kind of like how it ended, that this 6 parter is just one small chapter of the much bigger war between the Experts and Big Fire, and that we came into the middle of the movie.

@carturello Yeah, pretty much. When this anime was made, the Giant Robo manga was out of print, so Yasuhiro Imagawa took characters from other Mitsuteru Yokoyama works, from Sally the Witch to Romance of the Three Kingdoms to even Babel II. So yes, Big Fire is Babil Junior.

Or should be the other way around. Giant Robo the animation was released in 1991, Tombstone was released in 1993. But the similarities are amazing.

@@Sargonarhes no, it’s not the other way around. Giant Robo OVAs we’re released over a period of time from 1992 to 1998. This is a straight rip off of Tombstone.

@@jamessharpe406 only problem with your fact in the parts of the Big Fire theme show up earlier in the OVA before the 93 release of Tombstone movie, the finished sound may seem similar but they are not. This is a lot like back in 1999 when people heard Escaflowne's track Dance of the Curse and believed it was a rip-off of Star Wars Duel of the Fates. This is also impossible when Star Wars TPM was released in 1999 and Escaflowne was released in 1996. Then you want the oddest of things, there music in the OVA Gundam 0083 that sounds similar to music heard in movies like Star Trek II TWOK. And there is a good reason for this as the music for Star Trek II TWOK by James Horner his name is credited on some of the tracks for Gundam 0083. So just what if like in Gundam 0083 Japan did bring in talent from American composers to help fill up some of the music's play time? It's not like this hasn't been done before. The 1992 version Last of the Mohicans score by Trevor Jones wasn't going to be ready for the film's release, so Randy Edelman was brought in to help finish. Result is a score that mixed and blended styles of music. This kind of work often ends up uncredited.

Giant Robo is probably my overall favorite anime of all time, so I hate to say this, but, isn't the Big Fire theme just a rip of the main theme from the '90's western Tombstone? I know GR started production a little before that movie premiered in '94, but episode six was released in '96. Then again, maybe all GR music was already produced before completion?

Actually the leitmotif for the Big Fire theme briefly appears in Episode 3, released in 1993, so before Tombstone was released.

It's kind of like what Osamu Tezuka or Disney has done in the past with characters, using them like animated actors rather than characters with one and only one story or continuity they exist in. The only really constant things are the way they look.

@atomofish They should restart the series using CG for some of it like everyone does. It would save them from going overbudget! ;-) There are so many shows ripped off from Giant Robo ( itself, a "Reboot" and tribute to classic anime ) they might as well GIVE US A NEW SERIES! Btw - "BIg Fire" is so "average anime". He doesn't look half as cool as many of the characters in the series ;-)

he looks cool enough, but the whole point of his design is that he's based on another main character from Yokoyama. Also, don't really see a point in making a sequel or continuation. But then again, I am replying to an old comment.
