Guy that wrote 'Freedom Jazz Dance' for 'Miles Smiles' .. now I see why Miles dug him .. I'm reminded of Greg Howe's live version at NAMM - the same bounce in the two feel and the same focus on the maj7/9s in the 251s - like how I hear it ... but a bit heavier on the notes, I love it !! Thanks for Concert key transciption too !!!!

Thank you so much for posting this. That’s the most unique take on Giant Steps I’ve ever heard apart from the original! I’ve realized for years that I (and everyone!) need to listen to more Eddie..Eddie Harris :^)

So great, and WAY ahead of his time. Needless to say, the phrases and note choices are Killin, and the tempo and contagious swinging don't budge when the rhythm section drops out. Beautiful!

Are we listening to the same track? When exactly rhythm section drops out? It seems you're commenting on "Oleo" transcription on the same channel.

actually, more interesting than Coltrane's (I'm not questioning Coltrane as a musical genius, just talking about his work on this harmonic structure) - just my opinion.
