Dota 2 is very interesting to watch in VR. You can actually walk around the battlefield when the match is ongoing. Would have been fun to watch if Giant Bomb gave it a try :)

it's really more something to try for like 5 minutes in a VRodeo cus there's not that much to it.

@TheLingo567 жыл бұрын
Negativ Nein I do recommend you try giving the newer ones a watch. The meta at TI4 was garbage on a whole other level, and the game has done nothing but massively improve since then. Right now Dota is probably at a more action packed state than it's ever been.

I don't understand this scene. At all. Nothing against those that love this stuff, but I just don't get it. Maybe I'm just old.
@TheLingo567 жыл бұрын
Smack Millan It's a tough scene to penetrate because of how layered the game is, but because there's so much shit can happen in the game there's a crazy amount of hype and unexpected moments that no other game that I've seen can recreate. There's a petition for them to bring back the noob stream they had a couple years ago. If they do bring it back I recommend watching it, no other game out there like Dota.
@Smackosynthesis7 жыл бұрын
TheLingo56 I wouldn't be against a noob stream. I would give it a shot, but my interest just isn't there. I'm more talking about this card stuff and things like it. I'll already watch people play games, so I would be more inclined to watch an actual tournament or something.

Party MMR? It's not the thing I think it is. At least I hope it's not.
@TheLingo567 жыл бұрын
Michael Kitchin Dota has it's competitive matchmaking split into party and solo. If you have a party of 2, 3, or 5 people you get a seperate MMR from solo because of the skill level variation you can get from playing with friends at different skill levels.

I think Ben is like, a maaassive fan of Dota, he was an intern for years, and probably played it all that time haha
@vedicardi7 жыл бұрын
If he hated mobas why would he participate in this? clearly he is at least somewhat interested in dota if only just the idea of the pro scene even if he doesn't enjoy the gameplay of the genre.
@vedicardi7 жыл бұрын
you realize he spent at least 40 dollars on Dota2 to unlock all the stuff you see here in this video, right?
@vedicardi7 жыл бұрын
Obviously he doesn't play it but that doesn't mean he's not interested in it. Would you spend $40 on something you hate and have no interest in? He has said he's not a fan of playing the game, but clearly he is interested in certain aspects of the world around it. If they just wanted to show what player cards and treasures were like "for a segment" they could have easily had Ben or Brad do it.
@BenPutnamDX7 жыл бұрын
vedicardi Jeff would absolutely spend $40 on something he's not interested in

I prefer Heroes of the Storm: it's a similar level of pain at only a third of the time spent!
@GG4GJake7 жыл бұрын
I'm confused here. Why is Jeff Interested in all of this stuff if he has no interest in playing the game? He is never going to use the shit he gets.
@TheLingo567 жыл бұрын
GG4GJake It's essentially playing slots without any chance to lose, just a chance of getting rarer and rarer rewards. It doesn't take any game knowledge and it's fun to open stuff and compare how much more your inventory is worth vs a different player. I got sucked into this system back when I played TF2 so I know exactly how Jeff feels. Back then I was more concerned with getting unusuals and looking cool than I ever was playing the game. Spent hundreds of hours in trade servers trying to work my way up.
@drew0818867 жыл бұрын
At around 18 1/2 minutes, when they started doing the fantasy card thing, I said out loud to myself "Oh my God, this is boring. Why do people play this? Aaaaaaaaaaah!"
@YZaiCreates7 жыл бұрын
Well it is basically just "lets play menus!" as opposed to the actual video game.
@drew0818867 жыл бұрын
scumlander yeah, I realized a bit later that they weren't going to actually play the game so my reaction was a little unfair to the game. I honestly thought all the menu business was just a part of the game that had to be done before you played until I realized the video was about to end and they hadn't actually played. Then I realized this video wasn't really about the game.

I would rather have the option to pay for cosmetics and stuff only, rather than having to pay for over a hundred champions just to get the full experience of the game that's supposed to be free.
@TheLingo567 жыл бұрын
The entire pass is mainly just for cosmetics. If you don't get caught up in ranking up your battle pass levels with money it's actually a much better deal than League cosmetics. For about $10 you get high quality skins for 6-7 heroes, a new music pack, a new courier and ward skin, a betting mini-game before a match to earn more levels for more skins, and access to the co-op campaign Valve made for the battle pass. If you're also conserned with all the drops being random, you can just buy all the cosmetics from the market directly after a year. The game also makes it impossible to get duplicates from any chests you unbox. Only shitty thing is it is a year when past battle pass rewards were able to be traded instantly when you got them.
