Picked one of these up a few weeks ago. For me, the perfect EDC: Magnacut, less than 3oz., 3.3” blade, terrific action, grippy handle and very easy to deploy. Yep, it’s the ultimate EDC knife…..A+.

I love the Ace REO, and the Sonoma V2. I don't own either yet, but one of these two will be my next knife purchase. Gotta give it to GiantMouse they use some of the best manufacturers out there. Nice One as always.

just now ordered that from REC. i took issue with GM’s lock access because of my giant booger hooks, but they finally gave you some access on this model, excited to try it out!

@@Southernknife_addict i can’t fit my fat booger pickers into the deployment hole easily and it showed up a few frog hair off center. italian QC, you know? they make beautiful, expensive things (cars, clothes, knives..etc.) but don’t really double check their work :(

I went from 0 to 60 over the course of a single day with giant mouse knives. I was cruising kittery trading post in Maine on the way home from my weekend gigging…eyed an ace grand that was nicely reminiscent of my shamans, etc. Examined it, loved the first impressions, loved the crowned spine, bought it and found out that the factory edge was actually hair whittling once I got back to my car (wtf?). After knocking down some pointy micarta spots and getting the pivot adjusted to my liking, it’s a killer knife…so naturally, I found the magnacut, denim micarta ace reo on eBay and poof…within 8 hours, almost half of my Saturday night’s pay has been spent on knives 🤦‍♂️

The GM guys I’ve talked to online have not seemed interested in raising the HRc: “62-63 is the range. This is the range recommended by the steel’s designer, Dr Larrin Thomas.”

Although TRM (US made) is more, I'm concerned that the ACE REO's Rc is around 61. It is a beautiful knife, but I also like the fact that the Atom has been in production for years and is very well refined

Clean design. Still using Skeletool or Gerber Suspension. Sometimes Spyderco Police Chief. Boring but useful her at high mountain desert forest plateau hideout NM where the weed is growing fine.

Hey Stassa, what's the BTE reading on this guy? I'm contemplating between this and the Toor Chasm-T since it's on sale. I know you didn't have good luck with the OG merchant but the 2.0 is head and shoulders better. I really like both

This is a very compelling knife. Thanks for the thorough review, as always. Have you ever tried to swap out bearings for phosphor bronze washers on any knife? I don't even know if any company makes the right size for this, but I'm getting tired of having to pass on so many cool knives because of the bearings. :-/

I really love the design and lines of this knife. Does anyone have any recommendations for a budget knife that is very similar in design to this? This Reo seems incredible for $200 but I've got enough knives I rotate through that the extra money for magnacut and the giant mouse logo are unnecessary for my life. thanks to anyone for any and all info!

What knives do you have with well done magnacut? My well done magnacut knives are large sebenza, mcnees Mac 2 3.5, and a edc fixed blade from Deep Cuts Cutlery.
