Best start since 1995. That was the year Leonard Kyle Dykstra ran into the fence in Pittsburgh on July 4th and got hurt. It was all down hill from there. If this team gets Turner back in late June and everyone else stays healthy, this is a team to be reckoned with.

I'm almost positive the Phillies also began the '79 season ( Pete Rose's first year in Philly) 24-10 after the crazy 23-22 slug-fest win over the Cubs at Wrigley and then injuries took their toll and they finished in 3rd place in the NL East. The Pirates(remember them? :) went on to win the division and the WS.

ESPN's love affair with Logan Webb started before the game, continued as he gave up run after run (and was chased after just 4 IP), and even continued after he left the game. Plenty of excuses: he doesn't like to wear an undershirt, a new catcher, the weather was too cold, he was feeling under the weather, and on and on. At the same time Walker is cruising through inning after inning and just nothing nice to say about him. At least pretend to be neutral.

Starting pitching is excellent, but its still the shacky bullpen, which has been the problem the last two years. Every game, the bullpen gives up runs and have blown several games this year already. Their record could be much greater if not for them.

@Rockhound61656 ай бұрын
The only problem is they're striking out way too much. 17 strikeouts last night and 18 a few nights ago. Good thing they're playing teams like the Angels and Giants because you aren't going to beat teams like Atlanta, the Dodgers, Cubs, or Brewers by making 2/3 of your offensive outs strikeouts. And players like Castellanos, Sosa, and Rojas their pitch recognition is non existent. Sosa struck out on a pitch that was literally in the middle of the opposite batter box and Rojas swings at everything in the dirt but watches pitches right down the middle just pass on by.

35 ABs and 17 whiffs. Yes, they won, but 17 Ks is horrible. Past time to bench Nick "No stick" Castellanos. Rojas twice jumped when he didn't need to. Maybe he is more interested in making the Sportcenter highlight reel. Plus he looked awful at the plate again, maybe trying to be a power hitter which he isn't. Yes, the Phillies are the best team in baseball at the moment but SF really helped them out this game. Hope for redemption today for Rojas, Nick and Sosa.
