gibbet lane most haunted road | Stourbridge

I explore gibbet lane near stourton and kinver just outside Stourbridge a lane that once said a man murdered someone heading towards dunsley hall , stole his pocket watches and later got caught out . William howe the man who shot Ben the man who was murdered followed him as he was on his way back from Stourbridge where he caught up with him and shot him on spot at gibbet lane .
this video I pick up some strange stuff and answers using certain ghost hunting equipment.

@Midlands Outdoors Yea I agree...loving your vids m8..thanks. Regarding the lane it was a dumping ground plus burnt out cars left there and it was a fav place for boy racers of the time. So council put big blocks at both ends and the rest is history.

Fantastic Footage, I watched this video after I visited there, it is definitely haunted 👻 so creepy there! Apparently a Rise in drug taking, noise and fly-tipping caused the public to be banned from accessing Gibbet Lane since 2015 - I hope that this helps!?

I was there 2 weeks ago and there’s definitely a temperature drop at the point by the tree where the murderer was gibbeted. And this was in broad daylight and a very warm day. People experience the exact same feeling within about 10 yards of the tree including heart palpitations and a feeling of foreboding

Nobody is actually sure where the robbery/murder took place. Berrow's Worcester Journal (the newspaper of the time) indicated that it happened 200 yards from Dunsley Hall which would place the murder at the junction of Gibbet Lane and the A449. However, at William Howe's examination by the Stourbridge Magistrates before being remaned to Stafford Gaol, there was much discussion as to which county the murder happened in. Joseph Robins, Benjamins brother, testified at Howe's trial at the Stafford Lent Assizes on a point of law in regards to this as Howe may have been tried at the wrong Assizes. A farmer from Compton, Edward Cox, testified that he was 10 or 12 yards beyond the county line when he saw William Howe. The county line is at The Ridge and roughly follows the old roman road. This means the murder may have actually been nearer to Whittington Hall Lane and not in the wooded area. He wasn't actually gibbeted on the site of the murder either as was the norm, as this could be viewed directly from Dunsley Hall. The site was moved to a place in sympathy for Benjamin's widow Felica, to a site that was obscured. Felica still had a window bricked up though that looked over Gibbet Woods. The gibbet itself still exists, many of the styles in the area were made from it. I'll also add that in September 1814 the body of William Howe was stolen from the gibbet which is an interesting story in itself ....

@@MidlandsOutdoors The doctor who treated Benjamin Robins, Issac Downing stole his body to examine the effects of decomposition. When he was done he cleaned the bones and wired the skeleton back together. He kept it in his hallway to frighten visitors!!! His home was the old Star and Garter pub now a convenience store at the gate to Mary Stevens Park. There has been poltergeist activity reported there ..... Mary Stevens was once part of Pedmore Common. This was the site of the only other Stourbridge gibbeting, that of Walter Kidson in 1773. His body was also stolen by being sawn off at the neck!!! I believe the site is now on the golf course near Osmaston Road. His victim, Obadiah Rollerson is buried in St Mary's Church Old Swinford, worth a visit just to see the mortsafes.

Me and my friend had a bad experience down by the shit from it was about 4 am in the morning. My friend was in a mini 12 75GT and the car I was in with my friend was a Austin Maestro We had a funny feeling mixing you know Stephen in the mini had no power in his car then my friend John tried to turn his car over. No power then strange noises started to happen after about I’d like to say 15 to 30 minutes. Stephen ended up getting power in his mini and at the same time my friend in the maestro John suddenly got power and we got the fuck out of there as fast as possible. That place is definitely haunted. I don’t care what anybody says how can both cars cut off at the same time and start at the same time on the crazy noises we were hearing was something else.

Notice the cross roads. Its a fact that x marks the spot where people would congregate to witness the hanging of a criminal or murderer. Its a very eerie place which ive been myself.

Brilliant video. Only thing i will say.....unless someone else wants to pick me up on this is its pronouned "Jibbet" Wood, not with a G as its spelt. I used to play in the Gibbet Wood and the sand quarry as a kid and never felt or saw anything if I'm honest. Certainly not saying what you saw/felt/experienced wasn't real! I'm kind of glad didn't!!! I believe William "Billy" Howe was drinking in what was the waterloo inn (opposite what is now Aldi and is now an indian restaurant) before he did what he did. However this could be an urban legend. Please go back though at night!! You've got more guts than me!!! 👍🏻

I think I was about 15 last time I went over there......I'm (cough) 43 now lol It was like going somewhere in the desert in the states. But yes I wouldn't recommend going over there, as you say in the videos. You're likely to get prosecuted. There wasn't much there to stop you in terms of fences etc back then as I recall. Keep up the good work though mate. There's a few other places in the area that you could investigate too 👍🏻

There's a pub called The Whittington Inn not far from there which is supposedly haunted. A lad I went to college with worked there in the kitchens and said he went up into one of the bedrooms and saw a monk kneeling in the corner of a room. He stood up and disappeared through a wall. There's also The Talbot in Stourbridge High Street which has tunnels under the road. I could put you in touch with a local historian who has done vigils the pub and been in the tunnels 👍🏻
