This a basic guide to color correction within Adobe Premiere Pro using the Lumetri Color and Lumetri Scopes Panel. All of the steps are not the only way to work with the footage. Each camera and monitor will behave differently which may produce different results.
Here are the notes from the video:
Lumetri Scopes:
Color Correction VS Color Grading
Color Correction
1) find the correct white balance
-rgb parade
-luma values
-vectorscope
2) luma values
1-exposure
2-whites
3-highlights
4-shadows
5-blacks
3) saturation
-vectorscope limits
4) HSL Secondary
-skin tones
Color Grading
1) adjustment layer
-video track placement
2) get artsy
-there are loose rules?

At first, my poor attention span was arguing..."Really?? An hour long?!" But when I sat back and committed, it was absolutely one of the best videos I've seen on the topic, and Well worth the time! Not everything can be learned, or more so, comprehended in 3 minutes. No regrets from me at all. Thank you very much!!!

Honestly this is the best colour correction video I have ever seen. When I saw how long the video was I was really turned off but I’ve struggled so much just to get a good correction that I told my self why not ..... most other tutorial talk about exposure and contrast first and then saturation and and as you demonstrate it gives awful looking results . Fantastic work ! My only advice is if you could break the video in different parts so it’s less intimidating to watch .

This is the best tutorial I ever found for Premiere - I can't tell you how many times I watched a video and still couldn't understand it but you explain everything in detail and how you decided the levels were right and in the order even - I just did the exposure values first and didn't realize rgb was supposed to be done first before I found your video. I hope you have more tutorials on Premiere because you are really good at explaining things and I just found your channel.

Amazing video, especially because you mention what to look for and what the limits of what I'm doing should be, aka clipping here, this should be between this and this etc. Wasn't at all put off by the length of the video, on the contrary, seeing that list at the beginning of the video, I realised you're quite well organised so I expected the video to go into detail. That's awesome! Red cameras have a software you can use for some pre color correction prior to bringing it into premiere. Ibe tried both and your can make all the same adjustments in lumetri scopes or davinci resolve since it just needs a contrast and saturation to spread out the the Lma values.
@CoucounsPlaying
@CoucounsPlaying 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply ! Yes I am mostly having a hard time with saturation and vibrance, which, when I adjust, adds a lot of contrast and modifies everything I did prior. All around I trust too much my eyes, you help me a lot with understanding the graphs For the story, I also had the idea that under 0 was were blacks were loosing data, and over 100 where highlights were burned, so i just slided things around to have the '"Most Spread out" scope of the footage ... Anyway I learned alot, will try to get a well-corrected of a footage I can and stop with contrast and eye-trusting my correction !
@gibblsworthiscool
@gibblsworthiscool 5 жыл бұрын
@@CoucounsPlaying that's great! Contrast is something you can still add and adjust but only after your go through the 5 main steps first. That way you arnt pushing things around too far prior to balancing them.

Hey Jordan! I had to filter through a lot of different color grading tutorials for premiere before i found yours, and i have to let you know that yours has by far been the most helpful. It's technical, but not to the point that it's impossible to digest. You really take the time to break things down in a way that we the audience can understand, so thank you for all of the hard work. I'll certainly be referring to this video as i progress in sharpening up my color grading skills! It would be great if you could potentially (one day in the future) ,make a short tutorial on the differences of how to grade darker skin tone. Do the same rules apply? Are we still meant to approach the "line" in our vectorscope in the same way that we would treat lighter skin tones? If they do, then maybe my request is a moot point. Anyway, thanks again!

thanks so much for this video! it's the best color correction video I've seen, although i'm still a little confused about whether there should be any saturation past the "gate" in the vectorscope. @35:02 it looks like the saturation on the scope is beyond that point but that's fine so I'm not sure how to judge how far to go.
@gibblsworthiscool
@gibblsworthiscool 3 жыл бұрын
going past the lines means the color is at 100% of what it can be shown as in a certain color space (like rec709) I would only worry about skin tones being too saturated or if stuff looks a little too cartooney with too much saturation.
