nice lecture. never taught this way. Details are nicely explained. Incremental steps taken to reach general equation is commendable. Was looking for one more example in which species undergo reaction.

For co2 and h2o example, You've mentioned that in the vapour phase it'll depend on partial pressure...i get it from the gibbs free energy equation... But for all substances we have this equation: U(i)=U*+ RTlnxi right? So we can define in terms of mole fraction as well i suppose.
