I have a 339 and I couldn't tell the difference between this 336. Can any one tell me?

I had a 339 for a while. The main difference is that the body on the 339 has all separate parts (back, front, sides, center block) and then they are glued and bound together. The 336 starts out as one piece of Mahogany, and they route it out, so the sides and back are all one piece, and then the top is glued on. That gives the 336 a little more sustain, and it leans a little more towards the sound of a Les Paul rather than a 335, like the 339 does. The 339 is a little warmer.

@@dostacos1 exactly right. given the craftmanship neccesary the 336 spends a life in the shadows and didnt get the attention it deserves. in fact, it is a great innovation by gibson.

for far (thousands) less money you can buy an Eastman T-184 that features all solid woods (figured, carved maple top, mahogany back and sides, neck) an ebony board, 25" scale - that .25"' makes a difference. do yourself a favor...the word is out on these guitars.
