When you added the gain it sounded like I was at my friend Scott's in 1982 and he was playing a $50 Lotus "Les Paul" through a Peavey Companion and his mom came in and started yelling at him to be quiet because Knott's Landing was coming on, so we just got in his Datsun and went and got a McRib instead.

Everyone always thinks of Johnny Winter or Eric Clapton when they think of Firebirds, call me a zoomer but it was Nick Wheeler from the All American Rejects that made me a fan of Firebirds. Easily some of the most beautiful guitars that exist rn

Video tone doesn't always come through like you wish it would even with good mic placement. Wish Gibson would revisit the '68 model firebird. That bird could sing.

James Willis find yourself a firebird V pre 2010. Has all the classic appointments (banjo tuners and bigger badder headstock If you dig it) and will likely sound better. Just my opinion. I don’t know what these new ones cost, but I’ve found a couple older used for around 1200. Maybe good finds but just keep your eyes peeled on the used market if you’re open.

Interesting. The Firebird pickups in the second guitar look like they are a weird size. They look bigger than my Firebird pickups in my Firebird but smaller than humbuckers. I prefer the Firebird pickups in the second guitar - but the P90s still sound good

You mean like on a Les Paul Deluxe? Yeah, you would need the spacer rings, but you could use that type of mini-humbucker in a P90 route same as was done back in the day on the Deluxe.

you can put those on anything,the only reason to buy a firebird is because you like the shape,style and tone of a bird. i prefer les pauls so i bought an actual firebird to saite my firebird craving,1986 ,arctic white,5 liter ,5 speed

ArielsSmartyPants I agree, I have a 2013 firebird V in vintage burst and it's a fantastic axe, but I would rather Gibson had stayed with the original banjo tuners, because they were one of the signature features of the Firebird that made it so unique. I had a Firebird 1 as well with the banjo tuners and it made a lot more sense in relation to the backwards design of the headstock. With the Steinburgers there's a lot of waisted space and they don't tune any better. I wish Gibson would stop monkeying around and stop trying to fix what is not broken.

PIPA1302 I think this has to do with the fact that it are mini humbuckers. They generally sound a bit less thick then the normal humbuckers. And P90s are basically thicker single coils.
