Gibsonton is a town in Hillsborough County, Florida , south of Tampa. U.S. Route 41 runs through the center of the community. Gibsonton was famous as a sideshow wintering town, where various people in the carnival and circus businesses would spend the off season, placing it near the winter home for the Ringling Brothers Circus at Tampa, Sarasota and Venice in various times. It was home to Percilla the Monkey Girl, the Anatomical Wonder, and the Lobster Boy. Siamese twin sisters ran a fruit stand here. At one time, it was the only post office with a counter for dwarfs. Aside from the agreeable winter climate, Gibsonton offered unique circus zoning laws that allowed residents to keep elephants and circus trailers on their front lawns.
Nowadays this town seems to have a-lot of homeless and drug addict population. you can spot groups of people on corners and sidewalks at all time of the day.

My family left Georgia Amusement’s Carnival and lived around there (Palm River Road) in 1960-61 … my heart still lives there

My sadest day was leaving the carnival and joining the world had to adjust to life outside the carnival and have never been truly happy I plan on retiring in gib town buying some older rides that ere tried and true and made Bank roll while they were on shows and be truly happy again looking forward to it Brian and shaddie girl pup from wentzville mo

Carnival people are the most wonderful and beautiful people that you will ever have the pleasure of meeting They would give you the shirt off their back or help you out it would never occur to a carnival person to be rude or hatful as we have had to deal with that most of our lives and is a big part of why we became carnival people to begin with when our own families turned thire back's on us and the world were against us the carnival people accepted us for who we were and loved us and didn't judge us and that's why I left home when I was 16 and joined the carnival Brian and shaddie girl pup from wentzville mo

I lived on gibsonton fl and you went down the street i use to live on it was new york st. You turned around right by the place i lived at. I was raised there on that property until i moved in 1997 out of gibsonton fl.

I would have loved to see something of the local 'main street' as we would say here of small towns. The area where the local grocer, butcher, coffee shop would be. Just walking down the street and seeing the real community. Are things that spread out there that it's primarily highway towns? From Brisbane (Queensland), but originally from rural areas in southern New South Wales in Australia. The Main Street is where everything was!

I lived there and it's very poor lots of trash but my family has money we retired there and then moved to Orlando and so much more opportunities my grandma would say gibsonton is the end of the world so the look on her face when that place got mentioned is discuss
