The tiny bit driver is actually extremely useful. Glasses, even regular sunglasses, have screws that require tightening. This tool will do that.

Not to mention electronics, i work with dead stuff laptops and its probably not a good idea to use an all metal non protected tool to work on it, when you work with people that just call you out to their branch and say “fix it” with no indication of what i need to do this tool is a god send

I have a 20 year old original Wave that has seen heavy use. Probably the most used tool in my tool collection for always being right on me 75% of the time like my wallet and phone. From minor repair emergencies, opening stubborn packages to helping others on my daily travels. The saw is the real gem on the Wave, it actually cuts aggressively, smoothly without any kerf wondering like a high quality Japanese Ikeda cut jointers saw. I actually can saw little finger joints with this saw and then knock out the unwanted wood with the other parts of the Leatherman Wave.

My dad bought me this for Christmas one year. Hands down the best gift I've ever revived in my life. A friend was recently looking to buy a leatherman and went with the surge because he figured it was top of the line and better. However being a bit bigger and bulkier isn't worth it. His surge lives on the dash of the truck and he never has it when he needs it. Mine lives on my belt or in my pocket, always ready to go.

I used paracord to wrap the thumb cuts in the two main blades, two different colors, so I know the orientation of the tool/blade, and it saves my thumb pad from being torn up with numerous engagements. It also changes the indented, push-inward indexing into a raised, push-outward option. I also car waxed mine, to help with rust/corrosion/cleaning/staining/wear/ect.

No multi-tool is the best option for anything... but it is a great way to make sure you have what you NEED on hand. The Wave is my favorite multi-tool hands down, especially when you add the bit extender and extra bits. Because the real power comes with the accessories, I carry it in a nylon sheath.

I tried several other brands as a cable installer and once I put the Leatherman Wave in my watch pocket I was done... I've been carrying this particular one, (lost a couple over the years) but always went straight to Lowes and bought a new one within hours of losing them. I literally feel like a part of me is missing when it's not in my watch pocket and I use it every single day and have for years... Great multi-tool... Thanks for the video! *Forgot to mention... I installed DTV satellite systems for 16 years with just a multi-tool (mostly this one), and Dewault Drill. Very versatile tool

@@simonh6371 I believe everyone has there preference and rightfully so. I personally didn't like wearing a tool bag on my body as I walked through nice, or ckuttered and it had nothing to do with whether or not I paid attention it was just easier and less cumbersome. I performed quite efficiently and professionally with minimal tools. Its also much better when crawling thorough attics. That being said, no I could not repair a wall or install a door with it but as far as electrical and cabling its more than an effective replacement for no less than 7 routinely used tools in my that profession. I believe a talented professional can do more with less and this tool is perfect for me.

Older video here, but I figured I would add my 2 cents. I have been carrying a wave daily since they invented it. I used the all leather original holster for years (took a little stretching to get the redesigned wave in it years back) and even had it repaired when it finally failed. After it failed the second time, I tried their new holsters. The stretchy stuff in the sides of the new "leather" case for all stretched out until it was useless, and the Velcro was annoying on the nylon case which wore out pretty quick as well. So I molded myself a new full leather case out of full grain, vegetable tanned leather, and saddle stiched it and installed a heavy duty snap. That has now lasted a few years, and was well worth the effort. I have two or three waves that I use, and intermittently send into leatherman for warranty repair/replacement as needed. I can't be without my favorite edc. As far as that little driver, I use it all the time. Digging crud out of screw heads, taking off door handles, opening privacy knobs (bathroom style lock) if needed like when the kids lock it, over riding electrical cabinet power handles, my glasses, or others glasses, electronics repair etc. Etc. Etc.. I would be very upset if they got rid of it. For me the least used tools are the saw, the serrated blade, and the bottle opener. Not that they are useless, but just the least used. I use the measuring edge quite often as well actually. I'm glad you pointed out the one hand plier opening technique, I don't think most people know that. I have gotten several people over the years to start carrying one themselves after they asked me to borrow mine several times. I am in the industrial maintenance field so it is a very handy thing to have on your hip. I would never pocket or clip carry it though, as I feel it is just to heavy for that imho. I could go on forever about my favorite tool so I will just leave it at that.

I ended up buying a Rebar several years ago because it was the cheaper package. I bought the Wave Plus later on. For everyday carry I actually enjoy the Rebar more. Smaller package that feels stronger in my opinion. The Wave Plus is nice if you need the bits, but for me that is almost never. The quick deployment I don't need often because I usually carry another folding knife on me at all times that has a much better blade profile and accessibility. The main reason I carry a multitool is the pliers and the screwdriver capability. I also use the file a lot in orthopedics because it lets me smooth out high friction areas on casts after they set that may cause grief to the patients I deal with.

Lots of people wear glasses, also I do a lot of work in maintenance and those tiny screw drivers can get into some tight spaces for very light duty prying (on tiny parts that need something lifted to release for example) or working with small components. The key thing about tools is just because you personally can't find a use for it doesn't mean it's useless, there may just be a lack of imagination at work. Also the more tools you have on hand the easier it is to find one that fits the job you need to do, the eye glass screwdriver opens quite a lot of opportunities.

I’ve been thinking about getting one of these. Your video makes it an easier decision. I had one of the original (first) Leatherman multi-tools back in the day (circa 1990’s). I broke the saw and the knife blade within a couple of weeks. Went without one for many years. Then, some time during 2004 or 5, a friend gave me a Victorinox Swiss Tool X. I’ve carried and used it for 13 or more years now, and it’s still working great.

When I realized my folder was only slightly larger than my Leatherman multitools, I went to the Leatherman for the benefit of multiple tools. I got a Wave prior to the plus option and use it with the pocket clip. It is on the larger side for a pocket knife so I more often use a Leatherman Sidekick. Which reveals one thing the Wave doesn’t offer: spring loaded plier. The Sidekick’s spring loaded plier is quite handy. And relying on the Leatherman as a primary utility option backed up by a fixed blade knife, I don’t feel lacking. When I’m in the bush, I rely on a larger fixed blade and folding saw (or bigger saw) so the limited utility of the Leatherman is strictly a convenience factor that I appreciate. I’ve been looking at the Surge+ (or Wave+) though as an upgrade. Keep up the good work!

I had to try it. I'm surprised how well it fits there. I'll still stick to my leather sheath though. By the way that pocket is for a pocket watch.

First Leatherman was a combo Rebar/Micra. Both are now part of my Car Bag. Second Leatherman was a Wingman. Best first multitool for starters. Third Leatherman (and current) is a Surge. Bigger, heavier but better IMHO. Readily available scissors (draws less attention than opening the blade 99% of the time where I live) and interchangeable file/saw is this multitool biggest advantage. I carry it mostly in its leather pouch, although I tend to use the clip more often these days. I've been given a Gerber Centerdrive recently that I mostly use on my tool belt. Pliers are good (not great) but the screwdriver is awesome. Otherwise, it's an OK multitool but isn't worth the price that Gerber ask for.

super tool 300...first multitool i ever bought. i still have it. it rides in a sheath on the front part of the left shoulder strap on my ghb. the thing is an absolute beast. i've beat the hell out of it, used it for hitting, prying, cutting, sawing, screwing/unscrewing things, pulling things, used the crap out of the pliers, used the cutter to cut things i probably shouldn't have. and it just...keeps...going. i make sure to keep it clean and oiled every so often and it works like new. for edc, i carry a wingman and have used it for more things than i can remember.

I picked up an original wave off the ground years ago. Used the heck out of it, and still no tape on its leather case(oil the leather, so I guess that helps).

My original Leatherman Super Tool failed after nearly 25 years. I had chips out of the screwdrivers, and the pliers were a little wobbly, so of to Leatherman it went and they sent me a brand new Leatherman Supertool 300. I kind of miss my original Supertool since it was far more compact. Though nowadays I use the Wave's brother, the Charge. I wanted the better blade on there since I use the Leatherman almost daily. It sits in a slot in my briefcase while travelling about and then I move it into the pocket via the clip. Awesome tool.

I bought the Charge AL "Red Cross" package...came with red cerakoted handles, 2 bit kits, pouch, clip, lanyard, and LEDLenser headlamp for $99. (154CM on the blade steel, but cutting jaws on the pliers are NOT repalceable.) I like it a lot and use the clip for carry. But I still love and carry my original PST...so slim and light!

I have the Wave in the Leatherman nylon sheath with the extender and bit kit. I use it on a regular basis. I don’t pocket carry it as it does get bulky. The Wingman is another I have and it stays in a Maxpedition kit for emergencies. I also have the Micra on my key chain, the squirt in a small tech kit and just picked up a used Juice C2. The Juice is pretty beat up and doesn’t close properly, so I have to do a little clean up or send it to Leatherman for an adjustment. Suffice to say...I’m a fan.

I use the nylon pouch. The leatherman pouch is well made and the snap is of great quality. Work as a tow truck driver so carry too many tools in my pockets as is. The smooth grip on the plyer handles was a must. Have had many leatherman and love them all. Carry two or three on daily. Each has a specific purpose. Never use the blades though. Have sharpened my fixed blades using the wave plus file n gotten a razor sharp edge surprisingly. Granted with the aid of gun oil.

I am impressed by the wave, but never used it due to the fact that it does not have an awl. I need one for my line of work. I looked a the Surge because it's the closest thing to what I use but don't think it's worth that much to replace what I use. What do I use? I have been using a leatherman Super Tool for close to 20 years. I started with the original, the 200, the Core, and now the 300, and I still have all 4 models. I use a Sidekick on the weekends. I gave my GF a Rebar for Valentine's day 2 years ago, and she loves it.

I have carried a gen 1 wave since 1997. and still carry that every day, for the longest time I carried a Supertool 200 along side of that, but a couple years ago a friend gave me a Surge for my birthday. I carry on my belt, one on each hip. some people think that is too much, but very often I find I need a plier and a driver at the same time, or two pliers or two drivers, to hold the back of something while tightening/loosening from the front. I really do not understand how some people think they are too heavy to carry, I honestly cant even feel them on my belt. this might have something to do with when I got my first one in 1985, I had been carrying a Buck 110 on my belt, and as I had just joined the ARMY, I had LBE/pistol belt that weighed a hell of a lot more than a PST.

That little screwdriver that he thinks does not have a fantastic function, is the main reason I will add this Wave + back to my EDC belt. I carry a Leatherman's Hybrid Pruners and Leatherman's OHT every day and use them along with far too many other tools. I also carry the largest Swiss Army knife available. Still, find myself needing and wishing I had that surprisingly strong little screwdriver. Not for screws, mostly as a really handy stiff pick. If you must work on things a lot, that is a really important component that is not quite satisfied by any of the other tools.

I carry my Wave+ with the holster it came with on my belt. The Wave is a bit on the large side for me to carry it comfortably in my jeans pocket. Maybe it wouldn't bother me in my cargo pants pocket, but I have a 4cm wide leather belt on them just for the reason of attaching things there (usualy the Wave, LM Raptor and flaslight holster). I even use the tiny screwdriver, great for fixing my eyeglasses and some finer screws I encounter in my line of work (surgical orderly, and then I just carry it around in the pocket of my scrubs ). Other then the two MTs mentioned, i also have a Skeletool with a bit kit in my edc pouch :)

For me, the best bang for the money is the Rebar, my favorite edc, i agree that the wave is great tough, i have the previous version and i like to carry it with the clip, cause the sheath is too bulky. I wish it had an awl instead of the mini screwdriver. But overall i just love the rebar, is more compact, looks great in its leather sheath, not too bulky either, and i don't miss the scissors cause i pair it with a micra on my keychain, and if i have the need for the bits, i carry the bit extender, so, for me, the rebar stays as my favorite.
