I find it funny that the knife is named 154CM. It's a reference to the length, but it should be 154MM (for millimetres), which equates to about half foot knife. 154 cm (centimetres) is like a 5' knife. Anyway, chuckled!. I know they meant 15,4 cm, which fits the name.

Cold Steel Voyager in AUS10A is best value for money at that price point. Pretty much indestructible. Great working, outdoors, general purpose tool. Wont win on aesthetics but on everything else it's a winner winner chicken dinner all the way. And yes you'd easily process your chicken with it too!

Took the time to watch the video review a 2nd, 3rd and 4th time. Even went and watched the video review on the Cold Steel Voyager. I really like the looks and lines of this knife and that was before watching the video the 1st time. This is a really great knife (154CM steel) and at fantastic price point. the handle ergonomics and deployment may not be the best but those are minor irritations for $60. The comparison with the Cold Steel Voyager with a better deployment is a good one. Added the Edict to my BladeHQ wish list.

The Gerber looks cool, but I have a "bad taste in my mouth" for Gerber in that i've broken 2 multitools and my Gater 2 won't even take an edge, much less hold one. Maybe that steel is better then what I've seen. I want give them another chance, but I'm just not in the market currently. Thanks for the review. Keep up the great work!

Gerber seems to have improved their quality in folding knives over the past two years but not to where their knives really stand out from the crowd. They have made so much junk over the years that it makes me wonder why people keep coming back to them. Especially with the many brands of knives out there putting out quality stuff, you would think the attention paid to Gerber products(specifically the folding knives) would have died out.

Don't really know with the cold steel, a lot of people have no respect for Lynn Thompson, plus they are usually pocket destroyers. And even the pre conglomerate purchase knives sometimes have burs on the handle that aren't knocked off by the factory that get really uncomfortable. Also another thing that I like about the old school knife manufacturers is that they really like to round off the edges on the spine of the blade and all of the unsharpened spots on the blade which makes it really comfortable. I don't like 90 angles on knife blades, they are really uncomfortable in my opinion. And if I ever wanted to use a fire rod I can always tie a fire steel to it.

I have had my decree for 2 years now and haven't had to sharpen it yet and I have cut through rope, whittled a few twigs and it's still sharp with no rolls. The principle, I wish was with S30V steel. But other than that it fits perfectly in my hand no matter how I use it. Mine to had a slight roll on the blade, but I followed your advice and beveled it. Both are great knives. What's next??

The cold steel is nice, love the steel but it's even bigger. If I'm gonna carry a big knife I have awesome fixed blades. Thanks for the heads up on this knife I'm going to be on the lookout for its 'little sister', hopefully Gerber will come out w one. Stay safe, Be Blessed.

If this is 154CM I think they should test the metal to make certain its decent 154CM. I would love a USA made knife but Gerber is not the company it used to be. It would be great to see them return to their glory days. I think we should also make certain it is not just assembled in the USA. It needs to be completely made in America as well as assembled here to be real USA made. Prove it and I would by this knife in a second. I looks nice and I am avoiding China made knives ATM.

Average Joe I am sure it is 154cm, it holds its edge longer then their 420hc blades. This knife has been in production for years as the tanto and a about a year ago they started making the drop point. I have not heard of a large USA manufacturing company lying about what materials go into the knife. That would be a major liability and sue opportunity.

Average Joe having been to their factory personally, I can tell you they don’t in house heat treat. Same as Benchmade. You want to know where they get it heat treated? Same company, same place down the road. So what you get with Benchmade in steel, you get with Gerber. Can’t blame you for not knowing the ins and outs of the manufacturing process, but they haven’t changed much (actually improved) their production in the US. What they have done is better their QC.
