I feel like this is how Soyeon once felt, especially during Produce 101. Her skills were clearly up there but people only commented saying she wasn’t pretty compared to the other contestants. I'm SO impressed by how idle does this thing where they put social commentary in their songs while explicitly acting out the said social norm, they did that with Nxde and now Allergy too. A lot of groups do the whole "self love" thing for the concept, in fact I think its become a trend, ironically. But idle is truly the only one that pulls it off this well, cant wait for Queencard❤❤❤

A lot of youtubers have commented on how the "love myself" "Self love" message became a concept after BTS around 2017-2018. A lot of groups kinda just plugged in self love lyrics but still reused the kpop industry formulaic sound. I also feel like I-DLE are one of the few groups that have social commentary lyrics and have amazing symbolism in both their MV and songs. Its been fantastic to see how far I-DLE has come as artists, but also painful as someone who has been a Nevie since 2018.
