Nice job. You could add a little vacuum clamping to make life easier and more parts at once.Save a lot of time with the superglue.

Thanks Michael. I have been experimenting with vacuum clamping for the CNC but based on some observed deflections in 8mm thick box lids under vacuum, I became uncomfortable with using this on 2.5mm thick lids. Steve

Outstanding copy Steve! Looks almost exactly like mine. Your setup is almost identical as well. The letters were the tough part to me, figuring out how to hold them. And I only did 4 sides too, which is fine. Love the felt. I still haven't cut my wording in the lid like yours but it's on my list of things to do. Thanks for sharing with the world! Good Job. Andy

Very nice project! I just got a new CNC and I am learning a lot. I would use the wood you asked about to make more X/O pieces. From what I have seen I do not think the red oak was your problem, I think it was using the up-cut bit. I would try another piece of red oak and use the down-cut bit you used on the walnut burl.

Hi Mike. I think you are correct on the bit being the difference and will likely give the oak another go with the downcut bit. The walnut burl is only 13.2 mm thick and is too thin for my box design. I could make a box for that size cube but at some point it will get too small. I was thinking that my cube size shouldn't be less than 15 mm which is about 5/8". Steve

Very nicely done! Don't burn it!! The right project will come along in due course ;) btw, I like that dust hood. Is that Avid as well?
@extremewoodworker2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ron. I think I will keep it maybe try some ring boxes. I purchased the dust hood on Etsy from OneGuyInAShop. The dust collection is outstanding but it does have a larger footprint than most others. No complaints from me as I like good collection. Steve
