Currently I'm not feeling very happy in life but I've always enjoyed little things such as wrapping gifts and folding origami so when this was recommended to me I was very interested. The end product looks super chic and special while the technique is easy to understand. I love it. Thank you for your videos (I've watched a few more already)! Exactly. Some ignorant, uneducated dork responded to my comment about this being neat and pretty but wasteful with an uneducated comment about maybe we should give gifts in trash bags as if a gift has to be wrapped at all. Let them inherit the earth as they want it. Reduced to unlivable conditions begging scientists to help them "fix it" because they can't even gift a gift without chopping down trees to wrap a gift.

Most people want to protect the gift in transition in some way or other. There are many other ways to protect a gift you want to give. Even furoshiki and bojagi. You have to know what kind of thing the person would have use for, and tailor it to that. Someone who has pet birds or rats would likely appreciate plain paper for wrapping as they would get use out of it, someone who gives gifts to strangers in some official capacity often would likely prefer one of those gift bags to reuse, and someone pragmatic may prefer a compostable plastic bag as it can be reused for taking out trash. You were complaining about the situation, I presented alternative solutions to your issue. Not all gifts need to be protected, but those that do have many sustainable options.
