Basically the Dynastic Wars story therein is that a relatively minor altercation between the youths of two tribes blew up, their leaders sent in more and more forces, until the area that was contested was filled with them, and as the species relied upon foraging for supplying their forces: the area that had been fought over was then basically scorched earth as far as getting supplies; the victors in that moved back into their historic homelands to find the areas already having been taken over; yet more fighting resulted, and before too long: the whole entire geopolitical map had been reshaped, some tribes utterly wiped out, and the population of various lifeforms completely collapsed into near-complete extinction... and seeing as an animal's niche is its "job/career", the whole ecology had completely collapsed, and didn't recover for many centuries. Now as therein Tyrannosaurs as a species have remarkably long memories- they recall the Dynastic Wars as one human today might well recall the events of WW2 or the like; very easily verbatum as it turns out. This kind of logistics is very much the same exact deal, in this kind of situation, Carchara's Dad bringing his whole entire armed forces into this and revealing them all is a catastrophic mistake all things considered.

This whole plotline reminds me of the "Dynastic Wars" in the Cretasus Broncosaurus Rex RPG storyline; and how to the tyrannosaurs, the whole situation went very badly all because a relatively minor fight blew up well beyond the scale to manage it- into a kind of world war among tyrannosaurs.

As a man who's studied these kinds of governmental decisions of when and even *if* one should go to war: I don't understand Carchara's Dad's choice of war- *how* he concluded that he had to go to war is beyond me; and to me: it looks as if he'd be evaluated to be the one responsible for every. single. death that ensues from that; as he is the one who launched the war- when he had every option to NOT do so.

Tactics-wise, you hold the bridge in the shoes of Giga's Pa, and you'll deplete your opponent's forces relatively easy; he can't bring his whole force to bear, and you've got a blocking position that won't be overturned as long as you've got the ability to support it with supplies; a small force is always more effective supply-wise, especially in that kind of case, like holding your own side of the bridge as in here; he can't overwhelm you and you'll destroy his forces in detail.
