Metroid 2: Return of Samus 100%

Super clutch ending. First ever 55 in 100%.There's still a bit more left in the tank I felt after getting this. Some of the mid game Gamma fights didn't go as well as they can go and some movement slop here and there, but overal I feel like it's a solid 7.5/10 run. I said I'd do M2 any% after getting a 55 so that's what I'm going to do but I may return to this afterward to try and whittle it down some more.
My Roxio HD capture device doesn't seem to capture the sound properly when going through certain door transitions, so that's why the sound stutters during them. I don't know what to do about it but I don't think it's too annoying anyway.
The Colour scheme here was achieved after hours of experimentation with a complex arrangement of OBS filters, so I'm still playing the game on my TV with the usual dominant blue scheme for M2 that the Gameboy Player (GBI) provides. Below is my filter arrangement if you want to recreate it or something similar. Note: The order in which you put the filters also matters so if these were to be jumbled there will be some undesirable effects. I got my LUT filter from this site www.rocketstoc... ,and zeke39 is the final LUT in the downloaded list.
Streamlabs OBS filter arrangement:
Visual presets - Heat map.
Chroma key - blue, similarity 1, smoothness 450, key color spill reduction 1.
Color correction - gamma 0.5, contrast 1, saturation -0.25, hue shift 35.
Color key - black, Similarity + smoothness 1
Apply LUT - zeke39, amount 0.4

congrats man..... any chance you're doin low% ever again? btw mcfly is gone, why? does that mean oob died? he was the only one running that categorie. why not incorporate oob in 100% runs?

Thank you ! Yes I've been thinking about revisiting low% one more time since the last time. Not with any lofty ambitions as such but as a means to just improve both the video quality and hopefully get a chunky pb. The main problem with low% is the Queen boss is extremely volatile and unless you get lucky you may have to keep resetting the room or possibly never finish the run. Aside from that it's a really good run that I'm looking forward to getting stuck into it again. Yeah I've also recently realised that Metroidmcfly no longer has his times on the leaderboard. I think I'll ask him about it soon, though for me oob as a category doesn't really interest me. I've always preferred ordinary gameplay strategies pushed to the max in any game. To answer the last question, as soon as oob finds its way into a run it is no longer a "no major glitch" run and I believe that's the way it should stay.

It says 100% but you never got the ice beam... Color me confused.

In 100% we get it at 38:34 as it's the quickest ice beam to get. In total there's 3 locations for ice beam in this game. There were arguments suggesting that 100% should collect every ice beam and by that logic every other beam found throughout the game as well however, Metroid 2 does not keep track of beams in the same way that other games in the series do. When you pick up a beam and replace it with another one, the previous beam returns to the statues, available to be collected again. For this reason it was deemed that the beams could not be classified as a true item and thus not needed for 100% collection. For a little while I ran another category that we invented called "100% All Statues" which does exactly what it says, which some may consider to be the true 100% category. Since the rules still stand though I ended up just concentrating on the official 100% route as seen in the video in the end.
