The reason why Trash Taste was such a huge success is the same reason why Top Gear was such a huge success; It all came down to the fact that the show was more about a bunch of guys clowning around and having a good time doing and talking about anything and everything, which occasionally included anime. The fact that you guys had the foresight to make the show open ended enough to appeal to just about any person watching it was a blessing and iit paid off incredibaly. Keep up the good work.

Even for non-weeb people there is a lot Trash Taste offers because there are many other relatable topics discussed. Plus, in a weird way, COVID might have helped Trash Taste. I think what makes Trash Taste special is a mix of factors - Not being too into Anime, not too Weeb for people that just casually watch anime - Fish out of water, 2/3 of the hosts are new to Japan. It's still cool to see Joey insights. It's cool seeing people talk about a place people only see in anime. - In person, 10,000% better than a Discord call. - All the hosts are Content Creators, it's cool to see your insights into the inner workings of KZbin. Also when other people host Podcasts with their friends. I the viewer don't care about someone I haven't heard off (Mean of me to say but It's true) - Good auguring, Conner could easily back down and agree with the other hosts but by arguing it's fun. He will admit when he is wrong or if a take is very dumb, so it's all in good fun. Love all three of the boys :D

Trash taste doesn't feel "forced", you can tell that they're just talking and hanging out like real friends do. Always a happy mood, no awkward silences, genuine conversations and real emotions. Also being on camera in real life instead of a discord voice call makes such a huge difference, the body language, reactions and everyone being in the same room really makes a simple conversation feel alive.

Thank the body language 'cause we got the matrix meme out of it
Well, they edit out all ofnthe down time and awkward silences on purpose for thst very reason. This was what first kinda threw me off abour trash tastez is the fact that its an edited podcast. Im used to unedited podcasts where theres lots of silent moments or akward moments, but ive honestly gotten used to there "polished" way of presenting their podcast, and it seems you do too.

most podcasts have one famous youtuber surrounded by his small creator friends, so it really feels like a second channel, trash taste was much bigger than anyone's main channel and that's why it grew so fast
@Quantinum_X2 жыл бұрын
The reason why trash taste works is because firstly the boys talk about real daily stuff, drama, shit takes, and sometimes inspirational stuff and poop talks. Thats the reason that it basically connects to many people around the world and ig thanks to connor it didnt become a anime podcast because then their niche would be fixed and it would literally be for anime watchers. Due to the pandemic too many people couldnt go out and meet with their friends and due to that too people just wanted to listen to some people talk about stuff that normal friends do. The trios had their own channel and people who watch someone most of the time want ways to know them better. Trash Taste contains everything for anyone. And lastly TRASH TASTE because its a catchy title and Chris broad too
@broom_4042 жыл бұрын
For me, anime do have a great part of why trash taste is successful. It's basically the only "anime" podcast with high quality production on the platform, so they have no competition and they have huge monopoly for that audience. Even if they don't talk about anime, their origin as a weeb made the audience stick with them because that's what made them different from other high quality podcast

definitely agree with the point that it helps a lot that it's an in-person recorded podcast with great editing and a clean set-up. i can't get into podcasts where it's just an audio recording, personally, unless it's a true crime podcast. with it being in-person and recorded on camera, it feels so much more immersive, especially since their conversations are so light-hearted and their friendship is the backbone of the podcast.
@SpiderJAAM2 жыл бұрын
I's so cool hearing how they worked as a Team: Garnt with the ideas, Joey helping at Japanese meetings and Connor with all the tech. Trash Taste works because as Garnt said, their brand and brand image is not stuck on one thing, they can use it to expand upon any topic and probably other markets if they want to, so it doesn't ever feel stale or stuck and even if you don't care that much about anime they talk about other topics they also enjoy, topics they know of or topics they don't know of at all XD. Plus the main thing is their chemistry and how it's clear they're true friends with different backgrounds, it's really fascinating to hear their stories and opinions, it also helps that they were youtubers before making the podcast so the 3 had years of experience on being entertaining for the camera.
@michinspage72252 жыл бұрын
Honestly, the way garnt present the “secret” of trash taste in this video is just well paced and worded. there’s a lot of dedication put into work in the podcast, plus the amount of genuine chemistry between the boys and the crew behind camera is exactly the reason why the podcast worked so well in my opinion. I was never big on podcast because out of pickyness, but trash taste was the first podcast that I really enjoyed then got hooked into and look forward every week to listen while doing work. Yeah you pretty much nailed it. They took the 3 biggest anime/weeb channels in the world and combined them into on channel, then loyal-ized that audience through guests, broad topic coverage, good chemistry, edited/polished podcast uploads, and the occasional special. Though, i think its important to note that the majority of their conversations revolve around otaku culture, and japanz and living in japan. Weebs are natrually curious and interested in these things, so i think that was a smart move on their part to include all of otaku and japanese culture in the podcast. That, and the fact that its based in japan, which lends authenticity and credibility to the podcast as well.

Before Trash Taste i really couldn't get behind the whole podcast craze, but having loved your content for so long I checked it out. And man am I glad I did. You guys not only gave me something to look forward to each week, but turned me on to the amazing content of Joey, Connor, Sydney and even Chris. Mad respect to you Garnt and the epic team you work with.

This was so real and vulnerable. Which is why I’m personally drawn to the podcast, on top of talking about anime. Because I know many people wish they could have a friendship like the ones you have with your bois.

For me the thing that drew me in the most is the internationality of the podcast members. I don't know it's hard to explain but as a German person born in the Philippines I have made the experience that a person that has seen more than their own country (for longer than 2 months) just views alot lf things very differently and has an outlook on things that to me just feels more "real" .

Hearing about how the figure special came to be has me in awe because that is literally how I found these guys. “Anime figures are cool I should see what they bought” oh wait they each filmed on their own channel and there’s three more episodes of the podcast to watch?! That’s a lot of content to binge. Sign me up.

Trash Taste for me helped me get through the pandemic, had to stay inside for almost 2 years and you guys helped me get past that. It felt like I was talking to my friends again face to face, because then I rarely had a change to talk with them. You guys are literally me with my friends who just talks shit to each others and everything. Thank You Garnt, Joey, and Connor!

This was a great watch. Such a love letter to friendship lol. Also: Connor did really well, didn't he? he decided the gear you'd get for shooting + camera angles and so on? That's really important stuff! Plus he was the one that said you should get permission for shooting in the stores, I can't even imagine those videos being shot kind pf undercover. Huge W for the monke

It was in Trash Taste that I first found Connor and thank god he's part of the bois. If he wasn't, then I probably would've quit watching a long time ago. Connor just makes every episode relatable and fresh; it isn't really an anime podcast anymore but I think that's what makes the podcast better

As a viewer you hit the nail on the head for the things I have a perspective of. The specials that take it out of the studio and to be more than a podcast, the TTCU videos across all channels, your willingness to discuss Trash Taste and the boys on your own channels and vice versa - so many creators try to "be professional" and pretend like the other channels don't really exist. You're just expected to know.

Garnt, this is so wholesome, it almost makes me cry. I am super happy for you all and I really hope you continue doing what you are doing because it's absolutely great. You 3 have a very good dynamic and having crazy specials like the drifting one, the cycling special or the cooking special are amazing. They add that extra spice once every so often you want from the episodes

I think one of the reasons is because you guys all had collective audiences and they where all brought together into one collective and made us realize there’s more to talking about anime and manga or being a voice actor, that along with the fact there’s no big podcast in the anime community along with your level of production AND most importantly the fact you guys have such great chemistry make the podcast THE best podcast in the internet in my opinion

The figure special was genius because your video on Gigguk is what got me to go watch Connor and Joey’s because I didn’t follow them at the time only yours. Then after watching them I started watching the podcast and every episode since! You guys are great. I look forward to every Friday like it’s my favorite TV show that’s currently airing or something.

"How do you discover Trash Taste" section. Through best guest, Chris Broad, because he appeared as the first guest and I knew about Joey before because Chris do JAJ with him. This is also how I discovered Garnt and Connor. Listened till the end and damn, these bunch have pretty fun conversations. Then of course I binged every single episode until today.

I found Trash Taste from the first Chris episode and stayed ever since. I love how most episodes can be enjoyed with or without video which makes it very convenient to listen to when I need to do other tasks like clean the house or do the laundry. I think the fact that you guys explain your story set ups well makes it easy to follow to a larger audience, no one really feels left out. I mean, I only used to listen to the pod episodes and never once did I really feel like I had to follow you and the boys religiously to understand the dynamic. It's a podcast that can be enjoyed at any level, from casual listener to Reddit/Twitter meme poster.

Of course the MCU is the in the foundation of the podcast, but thanks for providing a commentary and a franchise that is enjoyable. I didn't know about you three before the podcast, but every episode with boys is worth while time to see other people have fun and share their opinions. It's a laugh and keep it up.

Main reason of trash taste being successful is that you guys feel like one of us, average people going through life and sharing the experiences, some we can relate, some we laugh at etc. other podcasts are like specialized on one theme let it be tech, movies, animes, business. Trash Taste feels like a podcast about life, where all of them come together.

i'm so glad trash taste became a thing, i started watching it on episode 3 and i never expected to watch it much, but holy shit how it grew on me i really believe the stars were aligned on this, not only the pandemic made me stuck in my house, i wanted to find new things to watch, and had a bunch of house chores to do and i coincidently watched one random video from joey that appeared on my recommendation list for me to discover this podcast and start watching it weekly still can't believe i started watching it when it only had like 3 episodes
