I often try to explain to people what it means to be transported to the Perilous Realm of Faerie when reading (or listening to well read) Tolkien. I’m pretty sure that’s what you’re experiencing. If read with the love and care you can clearly hear on this vid, you can sit back and enjoy the tears of sorrow and joy. Powerful and unique stuff… ever listen to Martin Rombreg’s ‘A Elbereth Gilthoniel’ hymn? Lump in the throat every time I hear it.

I wept over such a well told summary of light, love, joy death. My Da read the books to me when I was young. Tonight I could hear his voice, long silenced and missed telling me such great tales as I fell asleep. Much gratitude for that warmth.

You certainly have given me back the true depth of my love for Tolkiens work. Something that was overshadowed by the mighty force of movies and series and my desire to be entertained. With your help I have regained what was lost: the light and darkness of my imagination being a child reading Tolkiens works for the first time. I can't thank you enough!

In Tolkien's astrology, the positions and movements of the constellations in the sky allow for predictions about the future. Gil-Estel, as a star, affects the future with his positions relative to these constellations. This reminds me of the interaction between the song of the Ainur and the song of the Children of Ilúvatar, which is added to the music by Eru in the Music of the Ainur.

How do you do the voice in your videos? I love it, but I remember it being different. Is it a hired narrator? Is it you? I like both voices, but I was under the assumption this channel was run by one person yet, there is a lot of art and the narrator's voice changed drastically. I would not be surprised if whoever runs this channel pays for narration or art commissions or both. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that! These videos are amazing and are a perfect way to dive into Tolkien's world. I am but a curious fan, wishing to know more about the process.

Maybe this is a niche complaint but so many LOTR channels on this hellsite go out of their way to pronounce the more complicated names/words and they put on almost an elvish accent. It's so jarring to me when they do that and this channel is a breath of fresh air! You pronounce everything correctly without making it too show-y

There was no evenstar in Tolkien
@craigmusa22542 ай бұрын
@@SH-tc7np lol no ... the evenstar was not a thing in Tolkien it was created by Peter Jackson. You're thinking of different stars but ultimately Tolkien never wrote about the Evenstar
@craigmusa22542 ай бұрын
@@SH-tc7np literally Google "did Tolkien write about the evenstar" or "is the evenstar in the books".... the answer is No. Peter Jackson invented the Evenstar. I feel like you don't understand what gaslighting is. You & a bunch of Tolkien needs have gaslit yourselves so much you can't distinguish the books from the films. Next you'll say Isildur defeated Sauron when it was the high elf king and his father who took out Sauron. It's really simple to just Google

You're right; Toklien never outright calls our Venus or evening star or even star those names. The point is Tolkien's inspiration from Tolkien himself was to describe myth of Elwing carrying the Silmaril as a great white bird and landing the the ship with Eärendil. Then later Eärendil becoming something like that of Venus. Tolkien liked to think the lore was some past mythology that actually existed and is part of our own world, that we're in the 7th age... in later writings. Tolkien did not outwardly say in the the various books that the Star of Eärendil also called Gil-Estel, the Star of High Hope, was exactly like that of our Venus, the "morning star" or "evenstar or evening star", but it illudes to it. Even the quote in the video from one of Tolkien's letters himself explains where he came up with his own character Eärendil from the Anglo Saxon Earendel which was the name of the morning star ie Venus. So he did. Tolkien's own letter states where he came up with the very character who would traverse the skies as a star coming from our evenstar. Tolkien doesn't call it that, he calls it other names in his mythology; Gil-Estel or Star of Eärendil. And he doesn't mention the periods in which Gil-Estel is either always found at dusk or in the morning; as our Venus has periods in which it is the morning or the evening star depending on the the orbits. Instead, since Tolkien's version is Eärendil riding on a ship with a Silmaril glowing brightly, it maybe found each day both at dusk and in the morning. And sometimes in other places. So Tolkien's version of the Evenstar, Venus, is not exactly as we would expect it to behave necessarily. But he illudes to Star Eärendil being inspired and being like and later a myth origin to our own Venus. Again, Tolkien liked to think of his saga as being inspired by ancient peoples of our own earth and time; he later wrote how he considered we would be in the same story in the 6th or 7th age of it. This illusion toward our own evening star as being Star of Eärendil is not a fiction of Peter Jackson. It's actually Tolkien's own doing. He even says so. And JRR Tolkien's own thoughts or quoted in this video about it.

Technically Elrond and Elros are not half elves. They have one man grandfather but their father was half elf who married a full elf. Just saying. They should be 75% Eldar.
