Not much for visuals but I DO love the audio. Would have loved to have seen this orchestra live. When Gil Evans left the world, it was such a huge loss. RIP Mr. Evans.

i did. Juan les pins in the 70's. electricity shut down. Bruce Ditmas on drums with Hannibal Marvin Peterson playing both like mad full acoustic in the dark; Best moment for a 16 years sold teenager too shy to even say hello to Gil and his wife in front of him, taking some afternoon rest on a brench down town :)

I much preferred David Sanborn version on Heart to Heart

I tend to prefer the Sanborn version as well, though that's my Sanborn bias showing. I will say about this version is that it really captures that "big band" sound better than David's version on 'Heart To Heart'. That's the joy & essence of jazz though. So many possible interpretations of the same composition tend to keep those compositions fresh sounding.

@@Kareem_Baconskin The version on Sanborn's date is a tour de force, a superb showcase for his playing. But he does enjoy an unfair advantage on that recording: Steve Gadd!

I like the feel of this version a bit better. To me, it grooves better. I love Gadd, but on the Heart to Heart version he plays a little bit stiff - it sounds to me like he and the bass player are struggling to lock in.
