The sheath is actually reconstituted leather...basically old leather mashed to pulp, then with glue added made into strips...Kinda like paper mache in a way. :)

That is one sweet hatchet! I don't know what I will actually use it for, but I need to have one. I like tge grip tape addition on the handle. The stuff it comes with looks like crap. Great video.

Great video SAK94. I'm thinking about buying one of these. Questions, did you sharpen yours up at all since this...and how well does it hold an edge whilst chopping something solid like that log?

Sorry about late reply mate only just seen this, I have sharpened it a few times since owning it. It holds a edge well but I’ve never sharpened it so it’s razor sharp I put more of a working edge on it.

@@sak94 No no. Thanks for replying at all. Do you know what the steel is? I only have a file and wet stone for sharpening and am very close to buying this knife. Just working out the final details. Never mind that one. You answered in the video. Just not familiar with 1090.

Yea it’s 1090 carbon steel mate it’s good material, Should be fine with a file and wet stone 🙂.

Have you ever tried javelins or staff-slings?

@@sak94 Both are simple to make, for javelins you'll need either a wooden broomstick. Or wooden curtain rods, you'll also need some long concrete nails and drill a hole. In the middle of the stick, fill the nail with gorilla glue or epoxy and place the long nail in the hole. And let it set, round off the socket with a belt sander or a DREMEL and now you have a short. And light throwing spear! For a staff-sling, all you'll need is a straight stick, cut a notch at 1 end of the stick. You'll also need rope or cordage and something to make a large pouch with and it's a good idea. To make a cupped pouch, just attach the sling to the stick and make sure. To tie a loop at the end of the sling, when loading attach the loop to the notch and you'll launch. A heavy stone fast and far!

no i wouldnt you have to have really big hands and long fingers it doesnt fit in my hands its not sharp it doesnt even cut paper or card boards its pretty heavy its just for decoration it sucks it will disappoint you

We just can. but we cannot own a katana (at least in assembled form, disassembled you can, you can own a combat katana, but it must be disassembled (mekugi pins pulled out) Do you have a video about your legislation on bladed weapons? I just saw things from you that are definitely prohibited in Russia, even for purchase, but for example, you can’t own pepper spray... Is it true that many of you, even young people, walk with heavy canes for self-defense? I just walk around with pepper spray in Russia With love from cold and melancholy russia

@@dzerzhinskyironfelix5217 hi mate, we can not own pepper spray here. We can carry a knife but the blade needs to be under 3 inches and non locking you are allowed to carry a bigger knife / machete if you are camping or something similar. We are allowed to own katanas here but only in your home can’t have them in public places. Hope that helps mate I might do a video on it all in the future. 👍
