Thanks for making my day reliving the day l went sole 3 flights winch launched at West Maling in the 70s with ATC 336 sqdn . I lost my log book but l contacted the British school of gliding and they found my record of solo flight and sent me a copy with enamel badge

That’s brilliant Sam, so pleased you enjoyed the video and managed to obtain the date and enamel badge from the BGA. West Malling was a wonderful airfield, which 618 VGS had more or less to ourselves. Many happy memories.

@Gilbonaut Thanks , it means so much to me ! On my final approach with an instructor behind me l was 100 foot above the grass runway ready to land , air brakes applied and a civilian with suit case was in direct view in danger of collision. The instructor barked out at me to not impact the civilian who was a refugee from Uganda and was billeted at West Maling after Idi Armin kicked out all Ugandan Asians !! I did miss hitting him, but it was close !
