And it’s why I as a furniture restorer/French polisher use Gilboy’s polishes. Really high quality products based on quality ingredients. They work perfectly on antique furniture and joinery. 👍, Thanks Simon.

I have just ordered the starter kit, very excited.

Thank you. How did you get on?
@felicitygee3813 жыл бұрын
@@GilboysRestoration I thought the starter kit was awesome! It had everything I needed right there and I knew the cloths and wool were the right tools without messing around. Table came up nicely I am glad I got the kit because I started with one polish then changed to the darker colour. This way I wasn't having to wait around and order another one. I would use the polish in the kit on other items as needed. However, I should have left a window open whilst using🤦🏻♀️.

I have an Edwardian, wooden staircase which was originally mahogany in colour but has since been stripped and varnished. Leaving it with an odd light brown look. Do you have a product which would restore the wood back, close to the original colour with a lovely shine? Many thanks. Jenny. (Parkrun).

Hi Jenny. Could you send me a few photos of the staircase. simon@gilboys.co.uk. I can advise you better if i can see it first. :-)

Is it advisable for indoors while applying the wax and is it safe without using gloves?
@GilboysRestoration2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sean. Yes you can apply it indoors. I tend not to use gloves but thats me. In this world of health and safety I would say yes wear thin disposable gloves. ✅

I’ve got an antique dark brown coloured chest of drawers. It has hints of red too so I think it’s red oak? It’s very dry and absorbs lots of wax. Should I apply an oil to it first then a wax like gilboys
@GilboysRestoration3 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the age of the piece. If it is calssed as an antique oiiling it may be damaging it, but if not then yes it may have been worth sealing it first then waxing it. 🙂

I had two pieces...19thc cupboard and dresser... that were dry from having been placed to near fireplace(s). Took repeated waxing, but three coats (week or two between each) did finally do it.

I completely understand you are an expert craftsman but simply cringe that the panel is not cleaned before polished waxed. Is there truly no benefit cleaning the surface first?
