I love how the dragon kinda slayed itself. The armor was made of its hoard. It got decapitated by its own wing. The final blow was dealt by its victim with its own sword. And that victim had just come to reject their own blind greed. Greed do be self-destructive.

Words can not express how amazed I am, you and the team you gathered for this have really outdone yourselves here, definitely the best story yet. Keep up the good work and thank you for continuing your series despite so many other stickfight animators of the good old days abandoning theirs. It really warms my heart to see one of my favourite childhood animators continuing with these kinds of animations as well as improving drastically from them.

I always kinda saw Gildedguy as the ''Spider-Man'' character of the Stickman community. The fact he has a heart of gold and always tries to save other people, even despite the fact that those same people are trying to hurt or even kill him. I kinda see him fitting really well into the ''Indomitable human spirit'' trope, as his spirit and determination is unbreakable. His traits are displayed amazingly here, as even though he was stuck in a dragon for 4 LITERAL MONTHS, he managed to pull through. Not only that but the dude made a whole ass MECH inside of Mar. If that's not determination I don't know what is. There are alot of things I like about this animation. First has to be the stunning quality of it. Literally rewatched the last fight scenes a couple of times in slow-mo to look at the amazing details. I also enjoyed seeing all of the character's personality traits be shown without a single line of dialogue. For example, when Gildedguy and Mar are about to face each other head on, Mar seems to stay calm and collected. Gildedguy on the other hand is hyping himself up, doing cool poses and hopping in place. Something that's also cool is noticing how utterly skilled Gilded is at using his sword. With a weapon like that, actively trying NOT to kill someone would definitely be a challenge. But the way he handles it so perfectly so it cuts Mar from the dragon instead of cutting Mar himself is really damn satisfying to watch I almost forgot to mention the GildedMech. That thing was extremely unexpected, to the point where I paused the video for a couple of seconds to laugh at the sudden absurdity, yet coolness of it. Him cutting the dragon's head off was fucking metal as shit. Another thing that is worth noting is the tragic character of Mar. Now if you read the blogpost about this animation, you'd know that Mar's creator did some bad things. You'd also know that Gilded intended this animation to be a type of message to Mar's creator after he dissappeared. Watching how Mar behaves towards Gilded in this animation makes this pretty damn clear. Each time Gilded tries to help Mar, Mar pushes him away. Falling deeper and deeper into the despair and guilt of being a genocidal dragon. Even when given a hand, he is reminded of his sins and quite literally falls back to his old habits. In his final moments, maybe he accepted to help, but it was too late, as the sins of his past have caught up to him and a sword is driven through his heart. Quite a tragic end. It's pretty much confirmed that he's dead, with the whole weird thing sucking him into the ground and all. I now understand that the way our two titular characters behave (Gilded and Mar) is most definitely a parallel to what happened in real life with Michael and Barthimo1 (Mar's creator). What's also representative of this fact is that when first introduced, Mar seems to be a pretty chill guy. Offering Gilded hospitality and what not. But eventually his true colors came to light, showing that even seemingly good people are capable of doing the most horrible things. Still, life moves on. And so does Gilded. I can't help but wonder what's next for our golden guy, as he not only reached the star that he has been searching for the whole series, but also got a literal castle and total approval of his city. Who could Gilded face next? And what is left for him? I guess that's for us to wait and see. The animation is full of hidden messages and metaphors, alot of which I still don't understand myself. Nevertheless, this animation is easily Gilded's best one yet. Surpassing even Bog and Oxob, which is an immense task. Now we can only hope it overtakes them in views, as this really deserves more attention. Amazing job Gildedguy, I've been watching since Slush Invaders and have always been amazed by your storytelling and animation skills. Here's to the next animation (whenever it comes out) being even better then this one.

What I love about Gildedguy is that he isn't stupid OP like other characters. He is a well-balanced character who faces tough opponents but also faces mental struggles, such as greed, lust, and envy. He is a wild, ambitious, battle-hardened, and crafty fighter (he is an artist, after all). He even created a whole mech inside a dragon lol. The stretchy sword has to be the most stunning weapon I've ever seen. It's so simple, yet it's so cool, with its long-range attacks, the combos, and the sword gliding. Congrats to Gildedguy and the team for this beautiful masterpiece. Side Note: I hope "Mar" has realized his mistakes and is trying to be a better person now... hopefully T-T

Holy wow, this is amazing! You and the team have totally outdone yourselves! The animation is so fluid and expressive, the story is (a bit confusing) really heart-wrenching and spellbinding, and the music is so incredible! Specifically on that last point, I don't think the score gets enough credit (specifically referring to the original music, not the other songs used). It really helps to tell the story and express emotion without even needing words or many sound effects. My favorite part is between 3:03 and 5:43, especially when Mar walks out the door and when Gilded explains his story. So good!

One of the things that really gets me with this whole animation isn't just how amazing the story and animation is, but the underlying nature behind the story. Gildedguy mentioned he wanted this to be a message to Mar's creator after he disappeared. From the October post, it can be reasonably inferred that Gildedguy looked up to him in some capacity prior to the incident, being a mod in the community Gildedguy was part of and even assisting in the Gildedguy vs. Oxob animation. This idea of said creator's disappearance and tacit guilt in the controversy gives the animation a feeling of frustration and being betrayed coming from Gildedguy(creator), as Gildedguy(character) tries multiple times to assist Mar, but is rebuked every time. And by the time the fight's over, it's too late; Gildedguy doesn't know how to approach Mar, Mar is resigned to whatever fate awaits him, and the community around them gives their final verdict.

It’s really fun how Gildedguy ended (currently.) his story in a typical trope of a knight slaying a dragon and became a king (i know he isn’t a king instead a coconut-head of his guild.) But i also loved how he proved to himself that he can build his own legacy just like what is shown in Story 0 where he got tired of everything being given to him and instead set out on a journey of his own, now that wandering creative artistic knight slain the marred dragon he finally got that legacy he owns.

It's soo cool from the fact that he started a quest from his parent's whole operation based on the fact that he saw THAT star. The star of adventure. He set out as a no body just wanting to somebody. All he wanted in the end was that. Now he has it, he IS a knight, a knight that has slain a dragon, just like all knights must do to become truly legendary. That mural shows how he is remembered as a savior and that he is one of the greats, despite not having any prior knowledge of swordsman ship or combat. It's so hard to describe how I and plenty others must feel about this. Seeing Gildedguy grow and become a Hero. Also the fact he was lead to Mar by the star is because slaying the dragon (aka Mar) is what he had to do to become a true Knight, just like he saw in his vision way back in Story #0. Gildedguy, both character and creator, are both legendary.

A marred dragon who couldn't face the fear of being rejected by others, facing a golden knight who tried so hard to bring her to the right side. Imo, I think mar hated being a dragon, the fact that they have to consume in order to prosper is what she hated, yet despite hating being a dragon and traumatized by the deeds she's done as one, she still instinctively fought in order to not be severed from said dragon. I guess there are some people who are too far gone, and gildedguy understood that, that's why he did nothing to stop mar from being stabbed. And thank you gildedguy for making an amazing and story-riched animation!

"The Knight will slay the Dragon." God Micheal you really outdid yourself with this one. Even after all Mar did Gildedguy still wanted to help him in the end and that finaly scene just shows. After 8 amazing episodes (also including 0) it's so nice to finally see Golded reunite with tje star he sought out for from the beginning. And the way that he used the Dragon's own greed for gold against him was again, peak writing. ... AS far as I saw, no mar had no greed for gold. It felt more like he was cursed to turn into a dragon when seeing the gold, when he was human he clearly reacted to any gold with disgust or apathy. And when he was a dragon he down right was unable to do anything but he still did not care about it, sure he collected it but had no reaction to people taking it and did nothing to protect it. On the other hand it felt like Mar made it so gold was able to protect people from his dragon self, as those animals were put in golden cages that dragon seemed to be unable to break with his breath and Gildedguy was never actually harmed by fire. And I don't believe that Mar had control over what dragon did, and it felt that in dragon form it had more control over him. And near the end Mar did not accept Gildedguy help as it seemed that he felt guilt over what dragon did, or at least he feared reaction of people that dragon harmed. On the other hand that girl who bathed in gold, was the most evil character. She had no proof that Mar was part of the dragon or had control over it, she only saw him place hand on it. On the other hand Mar made sure that she was not killed by dragon, and she just because of her suspicion murdered him in cold blood. That girl was greedy, when dragon attacked she used it to play in gold despite it being used to pay of dragon from attacking the village and when in dragon she did not care about anything and only played in gold.

@@greedier-7661 ...i don't really think that's how the story is meant to be read. mar clearly understand that what he does is wrong, yes, but the dragon is meant to be part of him, like an urge, not a separate creature that he transforms into. things the dragon does are still things mar does. the girl was greedy at first, and benefitted from mar's greediness. but after seeing how truly monstrous he is and how people react to him, she stops that, as symbolised by her losing her golden jewellery right before she attacks him. she could've become him if she continued down that path, but not anymore. mar was beyond saving and actively refused people's attempts to save him. but by unmasking him and making people realise that mar and the dragon are one and the same, gilded's real victory was stopping the girl from becoming another mar. (also, knowing that it's all a metaphor for the real mar being a predator and a horrible person, it could represent cycles of abuse or something? its kinda poetic that mar was killed by a child)

And we see that dragon Forced him to fight gildedguy on the inside. We see many times that his Reflection has 2 pairs of Eyes where one is not his but the dragon. We often see that dragon has diferent emotions to Mar. The young Child was trash, like people on Twitter ready to murder anyone who they think is wrong. Mar was put in impossible situation where he could not accept gildedguy offer as his dragon part harmed to many people. So if he accepted, gildes Guy would be tought as evil by everyone. And even if mar was split from dragon another might form around him. And you cannot prove him as evil as we see that he never actually killed anyone and people eatwn are stored in his stomach and living, they even have food somehow. And who do you think made those protectov3 Golden cages? Why did mar live alone in that tower? Why did mar research his Stone and magics? Why he refuse gildedguy entry at first? We see his insecurities flash back literally just before he was about to grab his hand. . At is not "to far gone" or evil.

Knowing the tragedy behind Mar's creator, some of the parts of this story, up to the aftermath of the city fight, feels like a sly but respectful depiction while also progressing Gildedguy's story. Very well done once again, now we get to see our armoured lad become a true hero, standing past his old materialistic values, and trying to look for the good in others.

@@kappadestiny638 Last i remember he misjudged the age of someone that he formed a relationship with, and, understandably, this damaged his reputation, leading to him being called a pedo and creep or such. His name was Barthimo1, a excellent animator that had been in the community for some years. He also helped a little bit with some of Gildedguy's stuff. As Gildedguy himself says on his website (the post about Story 8), Barthimo1 disappeared without saying anything after what happened. Gildedguy did manage to get a bit of Barthimo1's words on the matter. For his ban from the community, the ban list on the community website forums (website is under construction as of this time) stated that both Barthimo1 and Hyun agreed on his banishment, especially considering the younger members of the community, which makes it risky for him to stay at all. In a sense, it seems like Barthimo1 felt that there was no way he could remain after his mistake was made, and the damage was done. Gildedguy showed this a couple times in Story 8, such as the moment where, during the tunnel fight, Gildedguy (character) reached out to Mar, but Mar saw the harm he was causing even if unintended, and fell back to the Dragon as if he could not be helped. As for the young girl that was naively blinded by her admiration to Mar/ Dragon, and realised only later what was happening, she stabbed Mar likely from feeling betrayed by her idol. In a way, this might mirror part of what happened with Barthimo1 and the young community member. Who knows where Barthimo1 (and now Mar too) might show up again, if even at all. It is definitely a tragedy that still has it's impressions on people today.

I'd like to officially announce that I'm now gonna try animation and drawing. I got a tablet just now and I downloaded krita. Mark my words I will do my best to join the ranks of hyun's dojo, because even now as an almost 22 year old man in college these animations STILL make my heart beat in a way like it did when I first watched the og animations. Gildedguy and the Rock Hard Gladiator arguably had the first death, but you're right - disappearing in a cloud of dust vs. getting impaled on-screen is a big difference! I like that the deaths are, generally, kept to a minimum. In addition to being respectful of other people's characters, it also encourages other ways of having stakes and makes the real deaths more impactful. The two deaths we've seen both feel necessary and weighty. Andre's death symbolizes the demise (but also reincarnation) of RHG, while Mar's death is both a justice and the only fate that Mar could arrive at.
