Hello. Found your channel today. I have to hand this one to the algorithm Gods because this video on arm structure is EXACTLY what I have been searching for! For some reason, my lead arm was getting into complete external rotation to prevent the left miss. (I may have picked this up from a DeChambeau video) but is destroyed my iron play. I could not find a video at this level of detail anywhere else. Thanks and new subscriber!

Another truly awesome drill. When put into practice it becomes only 1 swing thought throughout my play. I also grip the driver with the grip towards the ground before a round. Works the same with less equipment. I'm not trying to add to the lesson, just a little lazy I guess;). Really nice lesson.

I noticed that in your golf swing that the ball is not in the center of your stance, it looks like it is closer to the heel of your lead foot. Is that correct or where should the ball position be?

@Gilesgillgolf6 күн бұрын
What’s confusing about it? Hands accelerate as you start down, they then put the breaks on which allows the club to release giving you clubhead speed The exact same principle when using a whip or casting a fishing line Simple
@ad-d-8924 күн бұрын
Had always struggled with chicken winging in release and had no clue how to fix it. Everything I watch says lets the hands drop and then rotate and accelerate through the ball. However, this just amplies and exagerates my chicken wing. Trying this felt complete different and almost effortless through the ball yet with a more consistent low point. Need to really try and drill this to get a feel but it honestly felt completely different. Why do so many teach you to just let the hands freely drop rather than power them down and then let off through the ball?

Hands-down the best explanation I've ever seen of the the significance of the trail elbow-pit. Perhaps the ONLY time I've ever heard a clear WHY this is imprtant.👍Feels like a follow-up contrasting this with the driver, and why this drill is recommended for irons and woods, would be so awesome!! I am sure the difference is subtle hitting slightly up but an explanation would nonetheless be eye opening. For example, a version of this drill done differently to hghlight the differences in feel???

Past few days at the range I’ve been focusing on a more Hogan style swing. Especially with my right elbow, grip and arms close together. I’ve really started to notice the lag at the top of the swing. And now every time I feel that at the top I know it’s gonna be a great shot. Good video!

That’s it! ☝🏻 I have always struggled with trying to hold the finish; wondered how tour pros finish their swing in that beautiful posted up position with so much clubhead speed. In an attempt to generate enough club speed, I guess I, too, accelerate through impact (scooping, etc). Never realized I needed to SLOW the arms down to fully extend through impact. Thank you 🙏🏻 I am so going to focus on that tomorrow on the course ⛳️🏌️♂️ 🤞🏻 Wish me luck 🍀

Five stars! These are the elements I wish golf instructors taught 30+ years ago when I started (vs. forearm rotation to square the clubface, which the body interprets as over-the-top).

A great, simple explanation with part one and part two. Thanks Giles. As this is just another video tip I can pass on to others when I get asked how I can hit my iron targets with minimal effort. As I believe too many people are trying to change multiple things at once and when it doesn’t work they have no idea which one didn’t work based upon overwhelming changes. Love it.

Hi Giles, do you have a video on the influence of shaft stiffness? As I’ve come across several golfers recently who have gone with stiff shafts when their swing speed is around 80 mph. I understand this speed is better suited to a regular flex, just can’t articulate or show why. The flex with the stop in this drill does help. Cheers!
@Gilesgillgolf20 күн бұрын
Shaft stiffness isn’t just about swing speed. It’s about launch & how you release it. Can help eliminate a big miss too
