People forget: this movie was filmed without a script and rushed into production. For what it was and turned out, it wasn’t *that* bad. I disliked this movie for years but it grew on me. This movie has some genuinely frightening imagery and the soundtrack is on point, that’s for damn sure.

It was never remotely bad. It is a masterpiece. No other film so fully or vividly captures the aura of what Carpenter achieved in the original to this degree. In fact, most of the Halloween sequels didn't even TRY.

Say what you will of the story, certain characters, etc., but the theme, the aura, the overall atmosphere of HalloweeN 5 will forever be creepy and haunting. The Jailbreak finale and Jamie's cry of "No!" echoing in the lifeless police station as the screen goes black remains embedded in my mind after 30+ years since first seeing it.🎃

Yes, and that 'aura' is the defining trait of a Halloween movie. They pretty much all have the same plot, or variations thereof...the atmosphere is everything with these films...No other film in the series comes as close to capturing the essence of the '78 classic original...

Beautifully done. The music worked well in the exciting or violent parts...but I ESPECIALLY liked it during the more quiet or subtle moments...Halloween 5 is a work of art...the cinematography and music each represent incredible achievements in their own right...the aesthetics in this film are brilliant...

One of my favorite elements to the score was when Loomis enters the Myers house(during the daytime)...they play gentle strains of the same music that was originally played in '78 when Loomis went to search the house with the sheriff...This lends the moment a nice sense of nostalgia...

This excludes the actual opening theme of the movie which sounds more like the Halloween II theme, but sadly has half of the opening riff covered up by sound effects

It's not meant to be the same. Every movie has a different soundtrack and strangely it's the Halloween 5, that sounded the simplest and closest to the original Halloween.

@@TheAbandonedTheaterH2O is one of the better films of that era (Halloween 4-Resurrection), imho. I think the best Halloween film released during the years after Halloween III was Halloween IV up until Halloween (2018). Never liked Zombie’s films. I just didn’t connect with them. The first one was alright, but his version of Halloween II was stupid and didn’t make sense to me. For me, the best will always be Carpenter’s 1978 original.

While I can appreciate your opinion @genesis-138, there really is no Halloween movie w/o the main theme. It's such an essential element of the movies and of creating suspense. Out of all the original sequels, H4, H6 and H20 should take some notes. The main theme was barely present.

Only in Halloween Ends. It was the only movie of the franchise where he was officially killed on-screen. The upcoming TV-series will bring him back and there will be more movies. Apparently a whole cinematic universe. 🎃

Carpenter didn't actually do any of the score for 4, 5, or 6. He shouldn't be credited in your artwork or tags, actually! Howarth did the scoring for those sequels alone.
