hey… Can you comment on how fast the mock 3 wears out vs the fusion blades…? The first shave is always magic but these things were designed to wear out so I'm on the fence about mock 3 vs fusion because they're on sale right now… I don't want to stock up on either one and have it turned out to be a disaster…
@shavingadvisor3 ай бұрын
Yeah. For me, the first 3 - 4 shaves are magic, and then they begin to decline. I am also a safety razor user, so going past about 4 - 5 uses is a no-no. However, I go for about 8 on the cart blades--others can get more. In my younger years, I would get weeks out of a Mach 3 as I was not as fussy. I feel the Mach 3 dulls before the Fusion 5, and I guess that's because of the extra blades taking the cuts. Have you used a safety razor at all?
@RAZR_Channel3 ай бұрын
@@shavingadvisor thanks for the quick reply. No I don't use a safety razor never have. When I was young Gillette did a brilliant marketing move and sent me a cartridge razor when I turned 15 (and people think data privacy is a thing today). It was not a Mach 3 because that had not been invented yet. The thing was kick ass I used Gillette four at least 10 years until switching to an electric razor. I think it was out of laziness to deal with the gel. Somehow it seemed more convenient(electric). But now in the future all electrics are dead in 1-2 years. it doesn't matter how much you spend 1 part or another breaks down. I grabbed a Mach 3 last week and the thing is butter. I totally different feel. I just tried the fusion and I really like the wider surface area. Our experiences with how long they last may be Gillette fine-tuning their manufacturing process going up and down in quality to maximize profits versus people getting pissed off (that is of course speculation). Thus my question about how long is this going to last and it sounds like it's worth it especially for me because of the extra surface area. Thanks and good luck with the channel you have like the perfect face to do this.

Yes, it can be odd as some blades last longer than others that are the same model (quality issues, who knows). As with most things shaving and grooming--test for ourselves--based on what others share too, is best. Thanks for sharing your experience and for your kind comment too.

Nice review, thanks! 😀 Have you ever tried the power version of the pro glide/fusion5 blades? I wonder if they are any better than the regular versions, being a lot more expensive.
@shavingadvisor28 күн бұрын
Thank you. I have a ProGlide Power to use and review, and the new Fusion 5 blades. So I should have these live, at least on the website pretty soon. I also need to get on the Sheild Power video ASAP. I doubt they can be much better and more of a marketing thing (don't quote me on that yet, though, until I get to compare them).

@ That would be my guess too! Looking forward to your review.😀

which blades gives you a closer shave? proglide or Regular Fusion 5 ? on the first pass - which one gives closer shave? and the third pass aginst the grain - which one gives closer shave? many thanks have a great day
@shavingadvisor3 ай бұрын
I can't say I noticed much of a difference, and both end with the same closeness. I would say the Fusion 5 is a bit quicker, though, definitely. Thanks for asking.
@mangOO05483 ай бұрын
@@shavingadvisor thank you for your comment response From your video I noticed that Fusion 5 shaves and remove more hair on the first pass. And I think on my skin the Fusion 5 shaves closer. In my opinion the Fusion 5 pulls/tugs more hair, which is actually what gives the close shave, because the first blades pull the hair and lift the hair and the last blades shave the hair and then it gives a deeper shave. In Proglide they tried to fix the pulling of hairs and along the way they damaged the performance of the shave (less close shave)

@mangOO0548 Good insights, thanks. I found what assists the Fusion 5, especially noticeable when head shaving - the larger microfin strip, which makes the skin taut more than the other Gillettes, and this make it seem more aggressive. The microfin strip like a safety bar (on safety razors) preps the hair and skin before the blade cuts. It's why I think the Fusion 5 is best overall for coarse growth. I guess with the ProGlide if used with the right pressure vs the Fusion 5, should not make a lot of difference. I would lean towards the Fusion 5 as a more aggressive shave overall (not in a bad way). Well spotted in the video, thanks.

Hello, please, I would like to know the function on the Gillette Fusion 5 shaving head, which is marked with a clock icon on the product pictures. Originally the bottom of the shaving heads were solid, currently there is some ribbing (indicated by the mentioned icon). Does this mean that the bottom part will peel off or somehow separate after a certain amount of shaving to alert me to the need to replace the shaving head? Thank you.
@shavingadvisor2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I don't see any clock icon. Are these new Fusion5 blades you have bought or have you seen them online? I looked online and did see what looks like a clock (not sure if that's it?), and that is pointing at the center section under the microfin strip (that's just indicating it is the center, by the looks of it).
@vilempokorny46182 ай бұрын
@@shavingadvisor It may be on newer models, but in general I'm more interested in the function, whether the bottom part can detach over time. The icon is only on the packaging, not on the product. Unfortunately I can't insert the link here.
@shavingadvisor2 ай бұрын
@vilempokorny4618 Those blades I looked at online are a new version and just like the ProGlide. If that's the case, they won't detach, and Gillette would be all over marketing that as a new feature--so I don't think it is what you think it is. Thanks for the comment, though, as that's the first I know about the new blades.

Two questions, what is the latest gillette model and what is the best for a smoth shave ?
@shavingadvisor3 ай бұрын
Gillette Labs are the last razors released. The ProGlide is comfortable and the ProShield, but I do prefer the ProGlide.

I have an old Proglide Power with a AAA battery inside (it doesn’t works since a lot of years ago) but without the Flex Ball, like the Fusion 5. Could it be a discontinued version of Proglide Power with no left-and-right movement?
@shavingadvisor3 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I am not sure what you mean by a ball on the Fusion 5?
@lluisip73143 ай бұрын
@@shavingadvisorexcuse me, I wanted to say the Flex Ball
@shavingadvisor3 ай бұрын
I gotcha. The flexball is on the ProGlide and not the Fusion 5. At a guess, you are right about it being an older razor model as the ProGlide Power now has a flex ball head movement.

Have you tried switching the blades on the model. 😅

Yeah. And SkinGuard and ProShield 👍
@sasemirevskiАй бұрын
I noticed you made a mistake of the blades on the sides, the fusion one is the first you started to shave and second one is proglide :) Otherwise nice video!
@shavingadvisorАй бұрын
Well spotted, thanks. I took another look, and you are right. I guess that confirms there is not much between them because if anything, I would go with the ProGlide being slightly more comfortable, whereas that blind test (could be viewed that way) showed the opposite. The only other thing to note, which I mentioned on the latest safety razor video, was shaving on the right with the right hand possibly produces a different affect than shaving on the right with the right hand (if that makes sense).
@sasemirevskiАй бұрын
@@shavingadvisor Yea nothing much difference between them. I was wondering does proglide is more comfortable than mach3 and does it cut better in your experience?
@shavingadvisorАй бұрын
@sasemirevski I do think the ProGlide and other 5 blade razors shave somewhat quicker than the Mach 3, and the additional bottom strip section provides a bit more comfort. However, Mach 3 can still be the only razor needed, rather than upgrading and spending more on cartridges.
