GILLNETTER BUSTED IN PROTECTED WATERS

With the issues surrounding NC flounder season I wanted to highlight another major issue with the ridiculous situation we are in where WRC and DMF do not recognize the authority of one another. This isn't a coincidence. This is politics in action and the commercial sector has had a choke hold on NC politics for decades. I've spent most of the last year educating myself on these issues and I've spent months editing a video that I hope will help bring attention to the truth behind what's really going on.

If the fine was steep, and or the threat of losing your license, this would not occur

In Florida the same offense is a felony, it's also 2000$ fine and they will confiscate boat and nets used in the offense

I'm working it at this very moment. Been working it for months actually. I've spent somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 solid hours on this next one. It's only going to be a tiny piece of the ridiculousness that's going on but it's more than enough to paint a very clear picture.

This is also happening on the neuse and pamlico rivers. Very sad that there is no enforcement. Marine fisheries sticks it to us recs every chance they get.

There's so much more to it. I'm tracking campaign contributions and when you cross-reference them with past MFC votes and various senate bills it quickly becomes clear what's really going on.

@@FishingwithBrewski oh of course its all about the money....always is....and how did they just get 2 new commissioners sworn in that are past commercial fisherman? I cant believe they get away with this. You know what progress is with the cca trial? I am hopeful things will change in the next few years. I feel like its gotten to a point the recs are fed up and there are people in powerful positions that can make things change.

I wonder what’s gonna happen this year with mullet season being closed during peak trout season.

Halo shad will outfish live mullet. Tired it many times last year with some heavily pressure fish and was able to watch the whole thing go down on livescope. Watched many trout take a look at live mullet and turn away. Only to catch them a few minutes later on halo shad. That said, it's messed up that they closed it after crabbing season ends. Basically a direct attack on the recreational guys even though it's breeding size mullet used in the pots and finger mullet used as inshore baits.

Yeah I get that. U couldn’t pay me to fish live bait for trout. Very boring. And I meant for Commercial like all that strike net mullet pressure is gonna shift to trout. And we have a lot of freshwater in the non tidal stuff this year so the fish will probably stay below joint water lines where they can get netted.
