Gills Corner Tunnel - Midland Counties Railway

Join me and the team as we rediscover a long forgotten gem The Gills Corner Tunnel on the Midland Counties Railway nr Rugby. This was a real challenge as this has been disused for over 70 years and was very well hidden!

Yeah it was a bit of a nightmare to get to but well worth it shame it's so flooded though

What a scramble, but was it due to the steepness of the cutting or the undergrowth? As a rule I tend to explore tunnels in the Autumn/Winter as a lot of the rubbish has grown back or died. I'm off to East Norton Tunnel in Leicestershire (one for you to visit as well) at half-term because currently the portals are six foot deep in nettles, but by then they will be long gone. So my tunnel exploring season is about to start😀👍!!!

It was a combination of both tbf but it is very very steep! Add to that the 3 days of rain and the undergrowth and you have a recipe for disaster!! I cut it down considerably it took us about 15 minutes from top to track level

Can you tell us the location of this lovely old tunnel and what is the length of it?

Thank you for watching. The location is incredibly hard to explain so I will have another look at the map and DM you the coordinates! It's been a while since I went, it certainly isn't an easy one to visit!
