We only got one scene with Melissa because Melissa was too busy for being in the show. So it’s really not the creator’s fault.

@@evilavarga2559 that's not true. She has said in multiple interviews that nobody reached out to her. They only reached out to her after she made a statement during an interview basically saying "what the hell?". From a USA Today article, "Actually, Sherman-Palladino explained, she hadn't mapped out a big role for McCarthy in the reboot, because she assumed the star would be too busy to spend weeks on set." And you know what they say about assuming.

@@jennyisterrific I guess their were afraid that they had to pay her too much. I mean she is a big number in Hollywood now and they didn't like to spend millions for sookie. But yeah they should have asked first and than decide.

@@jennyisterrific That still bothers me. Sookie’s character was golden and she was literally Lorelai’s best friend! Like how could the creator/writer pull something so low like that? I feel they should give the show another try

@@brittlia_ I wouldn't be surprised if they thought she just got too famous and successful to be on their show. Something similar happened in the Community reunion special during the pandemic. One of the cast members mentioned a group chat and Donald Glover said "Wait... theirs a group chat? I'm not on the group chat??" They all just thought he was too busy and famous to want to text them. Wasn't anything personal. Gilmore Girls producers probably thought the same thing about Melissa McCarthy, or her agents didn't forward it to her because they thought she was too big of a star to go back.

I like how you ended with the gazebo. The gazebo in the revival in equal to Luke's in the OG series. Gilmore girls starts and ends in lukes. The revival starts and ends in the gazebo. I love that parralel.

And maybe a second version for the 4th episode of the mini-series with, "special appearance by Melissa McCarthy" and shown her oh, so brief appearance as Sookie. Otherwise I agree, this was fantastic, and amazing and oh, so how NETFLIX should have opened at least the first 3 episodes with the Ed Herman memory appearance.

As a 39 year old man, I LOVE Gilmore Girls, they are MY girls. Lorelai is the absolute best and poor Rory keeps making one bad decision after another, bless her heart. I was really looking forward to this and was pleasantly surprised when I saw it. They still have the magic! Some shows just can't recapture what they had, but Star's Hollow is just as quirky and lovable as ever. Can't wait for the next one, hopefully not another ten years from now.

Because back when GG first aired (2000) theme songs were still a thing. Nowadays they aren’t, or either just one line of a song. They just adjusted to time. But I do agree the theme song makes it so much better.
