Gilmore Girls (Lorelai, Rory, Emily) I won't let you go

Before I ramble on, can I just thank Rachel (racho14luvser) for giving me the inspiration to make this video! I've been thinking about making a Lorelai/Emily for a long time, but never quite knew how I wanted to go about it? But after watching her beautiful video ( • Lorelai&Emily/Abby&Mag... ) the idea came to me. The song that I've used, I had in my mind for a while. I was originally going to make this song to a Parenthood video, but someone beat me to that! And I'd rather not duplicate a song to the same show, especially when their video is already so amazingly done.
I loved the relationship between Lorelai and Emily. They've certainly had their fair share of ups and downs, and admittedly it's usually all Emily's doing! (even though at times I think Lorelai isn't completely blame less!) The episode for me where she crosses the line is, 'The Party's Over', in season 5. I get so cross at her for throwing that party for Rory, behind Lorelai's back!
Saying all this, I didn't want to make a whole video just about them. I wanted to add Rory into the mix, and show her relationship with Lorelai, because for me that's my favourite Mother Daughter combo!
One thing I did struggle with is what voice overs to use. I hope that I've chosen the right ones? Because there were so many, it was finding the ones that fitted this song best. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this video? And I hope that I've portrayed Emily and Lorelai's relationship, somewhat fairly well?

Did Kelly Bishop? If not, she really should. She's amazing as Emily. It's super hard to choose a favorite character.... like really hard. From Lorelai to even Kirk and Taylor, lol.

I feel there are redeeming scenes with Emily, where we see her love for Lorelai. Yes, she was messed up... but she loved her. Making her toast, shopping for Rory's birthday gift in the mall, telling her to wear a tiara on her wedding day, telling Luke to get her back (after she messed up), standing up to Logans mom (yes I know thats Rory stuff), wanting her to come for dinners (desperate desire for a relationship), doing the mother daughter fashion show, etc.

The scene at the end where a Emily has fallen asleep on the couch and Lorelei and Rory are awake is adorable haha. I just want to hug Emily, she means well

"She's right. I don't know my daughter at all." Wow that really hit me hard. It gave me chills, and had my eyes let loose of all the tears. Because after all you see between them, Emily's point of view isn't looked at as much as Lorelai's. Of course, Lorelai is in the right most of the time, but you really have to think, Emily does love her daughter. She blames it on herself for not "raising her daughter right", and in her mind, she's only trying to help. What she thinks is help isn't the same type of help to Lorelai and she can't help it. She buds in not to ruin her, but to help her. And even though Lorelai has every right to, I can't imagine the pain Emily goes through when Lorelai said "We're done." At her renewal of her vows, and how many fights the go through, and so much more. It's not Lorelei's, fault, but not many people realize the suffering Emily goes through. She just hides it. And with that line she said at the end of this video, she just gives up. A sense of hopelessness. A sense of guilt. A sense of pure sadness. Kelly Bishop couldn't have said it better, and no one can play Emily Gilmore like Kelly Bishop.

I think you're right, but not at all. I mean, I agree, but Sometimes i think Emily deserved all Lorelai's reaction when she let her down. I can't undersrand Emily's chooses and most of the times Lorelai reacted in the right way. I see Emily's love too! But.. That's neither enought.

Emily was one of the worst characters on that show. She tried to control her daughter's life. And she tried to ruin Lorelais relationship with Luke. When Lorelai told Emily we're through she should have meant it. And why she attacked Luke he should have told her to go straight to hell. And when Lorelai told Emily to shut up I could have kissed Lorelai for that. Emily and Christopher were the two worst characters on that entire show. I don't care how many people love Emily she was the worst. Lorelai was a grown women her mother had no right to control Lorelais life no matter how good her intentions were people make to many excuses for that. They were Lorelais choices to make not Emily's. Again Emily was the worst and I'll never think otherwise.

Beautiful Video, tears in my eyes! thank you...It's amazing how Lorelai's and Emily's 'I thought it was the right thing to do' made them clash, but deep inside Emily loved her daughter intensely...and that bond never ends

Loved this. Really enjoyed the fact that you did both mother/daughter from both sides - Lorelai and Emily, and Lorelai and Rory. The song you used fitted them all so perfectly and the use of the voiceovers just went together brilliantly. Amazing vid. :)
