😅 Good question, Wendell! 😅 Stars Hollow was never a real place, it was just a fake town in a movie studio. But when the the writer imagined Stars Hollow, she based it in a real town called Washington Depot in Connecticut 🙂

the pilot was filmed in unionville outside of ontario canada. so there is actually a town that the show was filmed in before moving to a sound stage. you can see some of the facades and stores, independence inn, the gilmore girls house, emily and richards initial mansion, lukes, pattys, etc.

Did you visit even the set of Stars Hollow? Btw, I think it's really cool to live in a small town like this. Many other TV series of the 2000s are set in similar contexts, where you can breathe simplicity and genuineness, where the inhabitants participate in the daily life of the community. Hello Luca from Italy! 🇮🇹 (my husband is 25% Italian, and he LOVES telling everyone that all the time! 🤪) The filming set is located in Burbank, California (about an a 30min-1hour drive from Hollywood, depending on the traffic 😅). I’ve worked on a few of the different studio lots in Burbank, including the Warner Brothers studio where the Gilmore Girls set is, but I never saw it while I was there. The town I visited in Connecticut is the real town that the tv town was based upon and designed to be similar to 🙂 I think the same as you, I live in Los Angeles now, but I’d much prefer the quiet peacefulness of a small town 🙂🥰🙂 That sounds lovely to me!

Yes, Washington Depot-New Milford are cities of ispiration for the creator Palladino. But probably you already know that the "twin" of Stars Hollow (not the rebuilt one in Los Angeles) is Unionville, Canada. The first episode was shot right in Unionville (i still dont understand why the first episode was shot there). Its a pity you couldnt see the stage of Girlmore Girls: on KZbin there are a lot of videos where we can see the tour of Stars Hollow (outdoor scenes), but when it comes about to the internal set it is practically impossible to find any material. Will you make more videos about the Gilmore Girls?

Many international films, even advertisements, are filmed in my suburb or even the city of Cape Town, South Africa. The place gets transformed into London, UK, or NY, in an instant, with fake snow, etc. I live in faraway Africa, where snow is rather uncommon. I had to hunt a little to locate the real Stars Hollow, but The Gilmore Girls was filmed in a location I simply had to know more about. The architecture, scenery and the general impression is amazing. Now, near Christmas 2022, we have high summer in our neck of the woods. We saw snow around Christmas in 1963, 1976 and 2003 only - the last two times were just a dusting on mountain tops but the 1963 snowfall was a record one, surpassing any winter snowfalls in human memory. TV programmes and movies allow us to "travel & see places." Much of the time, I watch it just for the scenery.

Wow, that must be amazing to see Cape Town transformed like that! I grew up in Australia, so I had hot weather at Christmas all of my life, too. But now that I live in the USA it’s winter at Christmas…I had my very first snowy white Christmas this year! I thought I would hate a cold Christmas, but it was so magical and beautiful 🤩 ❄️
