What i love about Emily and Richard is that their schemes usually work. Yes they're rude and yes they're always fighting with Lorelai afterwards. But they work. In this case they were trying to break up Rory and Dean by showing Rory how many "proper" suitors she could have. When Dean sees Rory sorrounded by college guys he understands he's not good enough anymore. And he's the one who breaks up with Rory. Flawless victory for Emily and Richard.

It's not up to Emily and Richard to break up Rory relationship with Dean. I though that was so mean of them to do it. Just like Emily breaking up Lorelai and Luke's relationship. She was an evil women. There was nothing to like. I wanted to reach through the tv and slap the crap out of her.

Ugh I hate when shows have parents, siblings, and friends just casually pinching each other. Especially from a parents towards their own kid. Like you annoyed me, so I’m gonna cause you physical pain. A lot of people don’t care as much or at all because the person isn’t being slapped or punched, but it can really hurt getting pinched. As demonstrated by Rory expressing she was in pain and still was in pain after being pinched. It got played off like a joke and an appropriate response. Well at least Rory finally calls her grandma mean, even if not to her face.
