Gimme an Inverted Winger ANYTIME FM22

How have you found the inverted winger in your game?

My inverted winger on support on my 442 is Bruno Fernandes from Man Utd, where I tell him to sit narrower and take more risks. He creates a lot of chances from that position and he is consistently one of the best players on the pitch on most games. Currently on about 25 assists on 40 games, give or take.

What if a IW with either foot and put him on an inverted winger role with stay wider? Will he sometime play like a winger to cross the ball from byline? Tried IW with run ball down the flank and it was completely a mess, or probably a winger with trait that cut inside will work better to get a IW + W role? or it's not going to be happen to have such a unpredicted role?

Inverted wingbacks don’t work when you have two players in the DMCR and DMCL slots. They just behave like normal full backs until the final third where they cut in slightly.

Great video as always. My current tactic is very top heavy with a forward, two wingers and two attacking midfielders. My thinking is to get the wingers to create the width and stretch the defence. Maybe I will look at swapping them into Inverted Wingers to cause more problems for the opposition.

Often I play lower league with a poacher who has sub par heading. The IW will more often get the ball into the box or pass it into space inside. Combined with a complete wingback on support who also crosses less and dribbles in. Full backs work great in a lower tempo tactic, but they will cross on attack, and they won't get high enough often enough on support, even with get further forward on. Wingbacks bomb forward too fast and 90% of the time the AI marks all my defenders and middfield during build up. It's up to the full backs to get the ball out of build up. CWB does that job as well or better.

Yesterday i was playing for promotion in a Brazilian lower league and decided to make my narrow 4-3-3 into a wide 4-3-3 by moving 2 of my center forwards into the flanks and one of them being an inverted winger. It went quite well and made me interested in the IW role... then pass 1 day and you launch this lol.

I love how your skin properly shows the players strength for both feet - is that a personal skin you use? I am by no means a football person , so whenever I play FM it drives me mad that there is no simple indicator telling me about both feet at a glimpse. Makes decision making so much harder than necessary at times.

Easy fix, just use the Tato skin. Thats the one I use

Recently I was struggling to find goal with my two inverted winger with a DLF with support, and I found the solution with changing my DLF into pressing forward with attack duty, or sometime changed my inverter winger into inside forward, took me 3 match to figured out what's wrong with the tactic and at the end saw video by today which tell me much more story on it, but still I'm having some issue with my lone key striker are not good on pace and always keep losing some good ball that passed into spaces, well then if I turned into DLF with two IF, the IF are not good enough on finishing due to they are originally IW. Will have to wait 6 more month to get into the next transfer window to fix it.

I got a question. Why on the last FMs Inverted Wingers or Wingers, etc, can´t play very well on the ML/MR position? I always try to make a 442 wich I love a lot, but it seems that the players don´t perform so well in the MR/ML position, even if they have naturality on that positions. This upsets me a little bit in this newer FM versions...

Since fm22 i play a pretty simple flat 442 with inverted wingers successfully in my 3rd save at the moment. Line up is more or less: Sk de/su 2x cb de 2x fb su 2x iw at 1 holding/defending midfielder 1 runner (B2B) 1 supporting striker 1 advanced forward With this setup, my iw mostly perform well, tested with lower league, mid table and top team. Is the inverted winger better than a Inside Forward? Would Salah score more in one than the other?

the inside forward would in this case be the better goal scoring role for Salah

The roles around them matters more. If you have an out-and-out striker (AF, PF-A, Poached, etc. inverted wingers work best If you have a supporting striker who drops deep, inside forward is the way to go.

If i use an Inverted winger on attack combined with a role on support at the front, like a false nine in order to incentive an exchange of positions with the fowar dropping deep and the inverted winger attacking the space that the fowar left... is it bad?

No but you probably want to have another forward player or a midfielder be the one running into that space as well.

I never really use inverted wingers. I usually go for a Raumdeuter or a Trequartista who then play narrow, but I do like to see how others use them. That and I just love to see a Regista with a Volante next to him. And underlapping as well. That warms my heart.

@@johnvieira7822 Well, I use wide wingbacks behind them and a Trequartista/supporting TM up front. That creates enough space for them to do anything. I guess the key thing is that a Raumdeuter is more like an actual striker than a winger, so his stats should be those of a striker. For me it works at least. Quite well so far. Double digit goals for both starters (as well as the TM) and plenty of goals and assists for the subs.
