Nobody can sing this song like Merry Clayton. She is the original voice. I get chills listening to her.
@vasilii64172 ай бұрын
Of course, Merry has to be given just recognition and loyalty as the original, Chanelle comes along and knocks it out of the park also. Under the same circumstance, none the less. Chanelle was so nervous the first time she was asked to sing in Milan, that she and Merry spoke. Merry said, "You can do it, you got the Gospel in you, girl." The rest is history.

With a world full of pitch transposer/Vocoder 'flippy-tippy-tango-changos' along come Jagger & Richards rollin' in with one helluva a sweet surprise. @vasilii6417 you are spot on! Chanelle replicates the haunting melodies! Chanelle displays deep yearning which exudes from every note she sings, resonating in her body language and facial expressions. A deep desire for connection emanates from her very being. While walking with Mick Jagger, they provide hope where physical affection has a chance to blossom to love triumphing abandonment, to secure lasting shelter in life's turbulent storm.

I didn't say anything about the current singer. She is very good. But what Merry Clayton did that day can never be repeated. Sorry if I offended you but I stand by what I said. Everyone has opinions. She's a very good singer. She came as close to anyone to the original singer. But no one else could ever get those high notes at the end of the vocal. No one in 55 years did what Merry Clayton did with her voice that day in the studio. I respect the woman who sang. She has a great voice. But again, that vocal will never be duplicated. That day in the studio with Merry singing with the Stones in the studio, lightning struck, everything went perfectly. It was and always will be a gem of a recording.
