The only thing that seems odd to me is the look and animation of the characters holding the flag. (I don't deny the intention to make CheckPoint easy to understand.)

Everyone is talking about how good the game is. Meanwhile I'm waiting for those SiivaGunner Rips to be remade once the game comes out. The actual game looks amazing though. Not going to lie.

It actually kinda is, except it is not limited by the constraints of NES hardware.

@@The-Zer0th-LawThe original graphics have a certain charm to them. Call it nostalgia if you want. Yes, there is no NES hardware limitation this time but that didn’t stop Mega Man 9 from using the same style.

@@SlowAside5 Yet Mega Man 9 and 10 sucked, because it was a step *backwards* rather than forward. Nostalgia doesn't make things good, just blinds you to the flaws that whatever old thing had, such as how the lack of slide in Mega Man 9 made the game slower, and the lack of charge shot made enemies feel tankier again. Plus nostalgia is casual-unfriendly, which makes it REALLY hard to sell to not only the next generation, but also to the past generation that now has less time, patience or energy to deal with all the crap that in their childhood they had endless patience and time to work with.

@@The-Zer0th-Law I think @SlowAside5 is talking about the graphics. Personally, I don't like the charged shots in the Rockman series because they lack a sense of exhilaration. (Even though it's the same charge action, it's quite different from Gimmick.) In particular, the long charging times of the "Mega Man X" series and the gameplay of constantly running away until you have accumulated energy can be painful. I agree that retro games have an unrefined side to them, and require unnecessary effort from the player. And I also agree that modern people don't have the time. (Maybe it's just Japan? lol)

@@The-Zer0th-Law I think they just mean a high bit pixel art aesthetic, think how the Project Tengo Pocky and Rocky, Ninja Warriors, Wild Guns, and Shadow of the Ninja Remakes / Psuedo Sequels. Or theres always the route Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom route where its just really high quality 2D art, which is the way this went (some of the backgrounds dont look as detailed though) Also I wouldnt say MM9 or 10 sucked but I also like Rockman & Forte so heh

Nothing planned as it's tricky to make platformers play good with touch input.

@@BitwaveGames The Sonic CD mobile port has pretty good controls IMO. Maybe try basing the controls off that somewhat? Just try making a virtual d-pad instead of a virtual stick. Even when platformer mobile ports have a virtual stick, I just use it like a d-pad anyway. I can't imagine trying to play the metal slug ports using the virtual stick as intended.
