Thank you for this tutorial, apart from making hats I’ve not attempted anything else just yet, so, i gave this a go and I love it. I used two yarns together as my yarn seems rather thin, a multicolored one and a plain together with a 6mm hook. I was fascinated how it twisted and I just kept going. I started crocheting in April this year, really enjoying the journey. ♥️👍

I so enjoy all the different yarns and hooks, and going in the rounds. My favorite yarn is the Unforgettable .So many times I chain 2 yarns together, my first round, I pick up the 2 loops from the chain, and next round, the other side of my chain 2 yarns, If you chain tight, use a larger hook. I use double yard in chains for ponchos neck, also for the beginning row of a blankets. Also, try, ch3, dc in first ch. ch2 dc in connection, ch2, dc in connection, easier than as doing for a dc ch,, do a 1/2 stitch, hold that loop ,there, hook again, finish the DC stitch, go back, finish that stitch, repeat.

@GinellCooper

I believe I did it the same way I did the original one but instead of one DC in the chain, I did three DCtog in one chain, then chain one skip one and repeat. It will make sense once you start doing it, just imagine doing a cluster where you would normally do a Double Crochet.

Hello… I am new to crochet but I found that design absolutely brilliant and so BEAUTIFUL. Could you perhaps guide me how to make wrist warmers in this same design…I am making lots of gifts from your cowl design and as addition having wrist warmers would be absolutely lovely
@GinellCooper
@GinellCooper 2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm a challenge... Do you want them to just basically be longer and skinnier? So I think just measure around your arm at the widest part of where you want them to go and that is the length of your chain. Then connect and follow the same instructions, possibly with a smaller stitch...like single crochet chain one...so the gaps aren't so big and then just keep going until it's the length you want. Let me know if you had something else in mind. Also if you come join us on my Facebook group you can share pictures with me and maybe I can help you figure it out. Welcome to the world of crochet!! I have been doing it for many years, I am always learning new things and I am never bored! Such a great hobby.

This is a fun pattern! I am thrilled to have a quick gift idea. Currently making one with premier parfait yarn that’s super soft. It’s funny because I have changed the stitch each round so far based on what you said 😂 so not pulling it out but started as double then hdc and now the petal look. Thinking will start with the petal look. The other thing I am making it wide in both ways with hopes to be able to wear it like a good. @GinellCooper
@GinellCooper Жыл бұрын
Oh I'm so glad you like it. I don't really have a name for the stitch but I would say that it is basically a mesh stitch which you can do with sc or hdc or dc. Honestly you could probably even do this with a granny stitch which is just a cluster of 3 DC's together separated by a chain. Once you get used to it, I think it's fun to experiment with all kinds of stitches.

I get not the stitch the chain 1 is on but it looks like she skipped the stitch after that one too. Do you start stitches in the second chain or third??
@GinellCooper
@GinellCooper 9 ай бұрын
You chain up one then skip the next chain. You'll see a pattern if you watch, you will DC, chain one and skip one over and over. That first DC is a mimic of that because you will need a space to DC into on the next round. I hope that makes sense.

This is called a #mobiusstrip. A flat ribbon it circle that has NO sides but 1. It's a non-Euclidean geometric shape because it shouldn't exist in our 3D universe but it does. 😍 If you follow one surface of it w/ your finger, you would go over ALL its sides w/out ever lifting your finger. It's pretty cool! I've made these before but has forgotten about it. Thank you for the reminder! 👏🏻🧶

Interesting idea. Do you mean so they have a twist on top?

I’m just getting so confused 😮where the starts and finishes are, maybe a little slower on exactly where the dc stitch goes, better than slower...a close up would be great 😅

If you do your first one in a color changing yarn, it will be easier to see where you started. But you can also mark it with a safety pin so you know which way is up

@@GinellCooper thank you 🙏🏼 for your answer. I have the Landscapes yarn in Harvest Moon, and so eager to do this beautiful 🤩 twisted cowl. I’ll try and place the pin, I’m sure it’ll help, but where exactly??
@GinellCooper
@GinellCooper Жыл бұрын
@@celsaflores7529 if it were me, I would place it along the new top edge when you do the first round of DC/CH and then when you come back around just know that if you don't want the twist, the pin should stay on the top edge of the ladder you created but if you do want the twist, it should be on the bottom. For me, it kind of ends up on the bottom naturally but that depends on how you hold the piece. I hope that helps

@@GinellCooper thank you, think it will help!! I got stuck on the 2nd rnd not knowing which was up or down and where to place the starting dc for 3rd row. But, I’ll give it another go until I get it🌺👌🏼🙏🏼

@@celsaflores7529 I believe in trial and error. When you get to round 3, if it's not doing the magical figure 8 thing, then back track and do it the other way. Luckily it goes fast so it's not a lot of work to undo. And once it's set up, it's easy peazy. 😁

@GinellCooper
@GinellCooper 2 жыл бұрын
Okay I'm not sure if I understand what you are asking but I am going to try my best to answer anyway. If it doesn't make sense we'll try again. The twist doesn't happen until you get to the end of the first round of the lattice. Then basically instead of continuing on at the top of the row you just finished you will continue on the bottom of the lattice. If you are not using self striping yarn, sometimes it hard to tell which is the bottom and top of that lattice when you get to the end of the first row. So to save yourself time, when you are at the beginning and just starting the lattice (see 8:11 of the video) mark the top of the lattice with a stitch marker. Then when you come back around you know your stitch won't go in that space until you have gone around twice. You are essentially doing too then bottom then top then bottom. But once it's set up on the second round it just happens naturally from that point on. Did that help?

@@rosaling2023 have you tried marking the top of the lattice with a stitch marker so when you come around you know to continue on the opposite side?

Yes! I've done it with almost every weight. Just be sure to adjust your hook size accordingly. If the hook is too small, it can become thick and baskety.
