Yes if you're going to do comedy with a message, this is the way to do it. The humor is not ham-handed & while it's clever it's not arch. So nobody feels like they are being beat over the head with a message or talked down to.

For people in the comments saying there isn’t prejudice against ginger people, you are wrong. Just because you haven’t experienced it first hand or seen it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I’ve had people throw books at me, physically harm me, shout at me in the street and scream at me to get a tan among other things. I also knew a ginger guy who had people spit in his hair “to put the fire out”. You can make jokes all you want but that doesn’t mean we will find them funny most of the time I laugh because I feel awkward or just don’t engage at all, trust me we’ve heard it all multiple times. I dyed my hair for over 7 years as I was ashamed to be ginger and thought something was wrong with me I’ve only recently just gone back to my natural colour and even then I was terrified what my partner would think about me with my natural hair and stop finding me attractive and therefore leave me.

@@hilaryc3203 Because when ginger is used in the UK for cooking, it's usually in cakes and biscuits, and gives the cake a reddish colour. As for the why the mild dislike..not a clue. It just reminds me of the ginger girl I went to school with who tried to tell everyone she was "strawberry blonde" to deny being ginger lol

To me, the most beautiful women are "gingers" - ginger gene: live long and prosper.

I agree, she is a good actress and plays very well the role of an empathic social worker.

I'm from a Ginger, American via Anglo-Saxon roots. The last Anglo Saxon king was King Harold, Harold is my Father and Brothers name, although we do not claim to be descended from Royalty ( dang, I always wanted to be a princess, & my name is Anne!) We aren't typically called Gingers in US and don't get Ginger hate. But... I think Ginger safe houses are a valid and necessary option for those threatened by gingerness.

Wrong, there's an episode of South Park that really rips on gingers and calls them gingers too.

@@adrianh332 NOT wrong. I said TYPICALLY Americans have not used the term 'ginger' for redheads. Big difference. The name Ginger was given to two different women one real Ginger Roger-1930s and one tv character Ginger on Gilligans Island-1960s. Orange cats have typically been called gingers as long as I can remember. I don't watch the tv show you referenced but I'm pretty sure it is Canadian, so using 'ginger' as a descriptive for redheads is still TYPICALLY a Brit expression. I grew up in a redhead family and my father before me....his Father before him. I would hate to say how many friggin years that goes back.....my father was born in the 2nd decade of the 20th century!! I am a senior myself!!!! So...in all those decades and decades that specific term was never one that commonly was used in my and my families experience nor in American popular culture. I remember quite well when I first started hearing it and wished it came out sooner. If you aren't red haired and freckled you have NO idea the amount of name calling! Carrot head the number 1...ugh. With the enormous popularity of Princess Diana and subsequently her son Harry the term mainstreamed here. Perhaps you are very young and think 10-15 years is a long time...not for me! Ha ha.......its all relative. Why you took a light hearted comment and tried to 'prove' some point, Idk!
