In this video, Prof. Ginger Jin (University of Maryland) explores big data in competition through four key questions: “Does access to big data constitute a barrier to entry?”, “Can big data be used by incumbents to monopolise markets?”, Can firms use algorithm pricing to collude or hurt consumers? and “Is there a need for new tools to address big data in antitrust analysis?”.
Ginger Jin participated as an expert speaker during the OECD/KPC-ICN Competition Economics workshop for Chief and Senior Economists held in Korea on 2-4 May 2018. For more information on this event please visit: oe.cd/2ew. More OECD work on the topic can be found at oe.cd/compbd
