The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the south bank of the Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan (reigned 1628-1658), to house the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
Construction of the mausoleum was essentially completed in 1643 but work continued on other phases of the project for another 10 years. The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 for being "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage". Described by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore as "the tear-drop on the cheek of time", it is regarded by many as the best example of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India's rich history. The Taj Mahal attracts 7-8 million visitors a year.
Inside the Taj Mahal, the cenotaphs honoring Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan are enclosed in an eight-sided chamber ornamented with pietra dura (an inlay with semi-precious stones) and a marble lattice screen. But the gorgeous monuments are just for show: The real sarcophagi are in a quiet room below, at garden level.

I remember the first time I had visited Taj Mahal with my family in 2010 summer. It was a sizzling day with temp around 45 to 47 degree.. I was feeling dissapointed by the harsh weather but when we finally entered.. The very first glimpse of the Taj a cry went out of me.. I was not alone.. It was sheer magical. As we entered.. Taj wasn't visible.. As we walked the white monument started to rise against the summer lighted sky.. I was speechless so as my family and all others.. Such is the mesmerising effect of Taj. I went berserk clicking the monument in every possible angle I could think of at that moment. We stayed there exploring till the fire ball started to sink in to the horizon. What I noticed that as per the sun rays at different times.. the colour of the marble changes.. I can vouch no other monument in the world has the memerism effect as Taj. It's just amazingly beautiful and so elegantly designed manually without the help of modern tools and machinaries.. Kudos to an excellent Videography and was able to see new images of Taj which was perhaps never seen before.

Having been to the Taj 3 times in different seasons & different times of day, & once in early monsoon twilight silence of being almost alone ( just 2 other people were there) at the main plinth of the monument at dusk was absolutely surreal. I have always marvelled at how exquisite a structure the Taj is, set in its almost Mystical surroundings of its corresponding structures, Mughal gardens & the Yamuna with its seasonal ebb & flow. The actual interiors & tomb chambers are very dim so this video is a marvellous way to see the beauty of the inlay & filigree within. The view from the domed terrace is not allowed to public so that was a very special treat. This video is indeed a true Gem to behold & a perfect tribute to the Taj Mahal. Thank you so much.

On a Full Moon one winter evening, way back in 1970, the view and the grandeur of Taj bathed in moonlight was so enchanting and mesmerising, that it is permanently etched in my memory. Shahjahan was engaged to Mumtaz in his childhood when he was 14 years old.He had strong affection towards Mumtaz.He gave her the title,"Malika-i-Jahan".And about high birth rate in his family.Do you know? It was common in those days to have more no.of kids,but it doesn't mean that there was no love between husband and wife.It existed and we have no right to judge them regarding their married life . And about Cutting off hands of workers ,it was totally myth, there are no proper evidence regarding that. The Padshah Nama of Abdul Hamid Lahori and Muhammad Waris, the Shah Jahan Nama of Muhammad Salih Kanbo. Every body who wants to know the truth can read these books but question is who will work so hard? This plot of land on belonged to Raja Man Singh. In 1631 AD, when Arjumand Banu Begum died, the owner was Raja Jai Singh, Man Singh's grandson. Though Shah Jahan or Raja Jai Singh would not have anticipated a day when the property deeds of the Taj Mahal would be checked, thankfully, as the Mughals administration was very bureaucratic, thousands of documents were generated and preserved. Though many have been lost over the years, some still remain. Two of those documents are still in jaipur museum that proves that Shah Jahan ordered to Jai Singh for handover the Tajmahal to Mughals. You can read letters written by Aurangzeb to Shah Jahan about restoration of the Tajmahal. All that documents and accounts are not fake, they can't be denied. But talking on comment section of You Tube won't work, you have to visit and read that letters and read that contemporary books. Non of government can't denied that those letters or and books are fake and books issued by government for schools and colleges are correct. Actually governments are misleading citizens.
