In case you’re not already aware, instead of throwing the “empty” lemons (or oranges / clementines) away, put them in a baking tray and pop into the simmering oven overnight. You can freeze the “shells” until you’ve got a good number to put into the oven all at once. The oils in the skins mean that in the morning you will have citrus, firelighters - a natural way for starting a barbecue or a wood / coal fire.
